What to make of these numbers from City today.....reported by Simon Bajkowski of the M.E.N

- Over 5000 attended fewer than 10/19 games
- 3000 of those attended fewer than four
- 1200 of those attended NONE

How the fuck do 1200 people not use their ST even once.
Seems very odd/unlikely

You are being disingenuous or you haven't read it.

If you attend every match but transfer it to someone elses phone to get it (as recommend by city if yours doesn't work) they are reporting it as non-attending. If you transfer or sell on the exchange they counted it as non-attending as it was in the context of the 10 matches in person rule.

The figures are also bollocks.

Over 5000 - means they haven't counted or won't say the real number? Exactly 3k and 1200? Yeah right.

I'm not being disingenuous.
I can't believe the figures either. Especially the 1200 one, even if City means that they each transferred or sold their ticket for every game, rather than it never being activated at all

I’d guess some are no longer with us !

There’s one seat near me a season ticket owned by a box holder so shifts it for every game

I just put this in another thread before I saw this one. So I’ll just copy it here.

There’s plenty of reasons why a ticket hasn’t been used once by the account holder. Working abroad for a year or two. Serious illness. Maybe a prison sentence.

But I’d guess that the majority of those 1,200, or at least a fair chunk of them are touts accounts. And the named holder probably isn’t even a real person.

That puts it more into context. Sounds like a justification from City for the 10 match individual attendance.

Personally I hope the numbers are genuine as I want one and can’t get one. If they’re cracking down on touts then that’s a good thing. As I’ve said before I gave up my son’s ST nine years ago when he went to university as he didn’t want to commit to the ever changing game times etc. with his commute. That seat has been empty for 90% of the matches ever since but it’s rarely available for sale. I don’t know if it’s available as an ST because I have never had the opportunity to look. So something screwy is happening with it. It was even free in the derby game this year in fact it might have been every game this season it was free.

So cracking down on others preventing me getting an ST is fine by me.

Lots of reasons why people wouldn’t attend at all:
Serious illness
Serious injury
Becoming a carer for a family member
Employment abroad for a few years
Developing something like depression or agoraphobia.
Prison sentence
Driving ban/having being able to drive taken away for a non-local and not being able to afford train fares

1,200 does seem a lot though.

This is a great point and highly likely the reason for the 1200 non attendance..

So why not crack down on the touts rather than penalise genuine fans who haven’t been able to get to many games for whatever reason but are scrupulous in making their ticket available when they can’t be there?

I'd introduce a check if this happens. If you don't attend so many you must arrange a video call or meeting with the club to have approval. If you have a valid reason than crack on.

If they are towts cancel the ticket and make it available to blues

Anyone know the source of these figures are are they just made up by the MUEN?

The club have clearly filtered the information through to the Evening News. For them to publish and give credibility to their new attendance policies.

But as @Corky says. If you want your numbers to look credible, why not give actual figures, instead of this ‘roughly about 5,000’ nonsense?

It's important to make the distinction between:

Non Attendance - When someone doesn't attend a game themself, however either lists their ticket on the exchange or transfers it to a friend.

No Show - When someone doesn't attend a game or list it, meaning the seat remains empty.

In my opinion Non Attendance isn't an issue, the seat still gets used, however No Shows are an issue.

Its not very clear If this thread is regarding Non Attendance or No Shows, but if it's about Non Attendance then I'm afraid it's whinging about nothing

If the club did want this to get out then it shows they are thinking and taking action to address the fans concerns.

I've said for years that clubs generally are missing the bigger picture when it comes to match day revenue. Chasing ever more ticket revenue just gives you a very skewed attendance base. Tourists and and rich people. These figures seem to support that.

Hopefully the club are switching to thinking about the wider scope of the fan base and doing more for the hardcore and committed fans who are priced out a lot of the time.
