Middle East Conflict | Netanyahu orders strikes on Gaza (p1161)

Give it a rest. A country that's lived under repression for the last 46 years and you're ok with that just because the resolution will involve Israel and the USA. There obviously will be collateral damage but I'm sure that they're prepared for it. The price of freedom.
The people got rid of the Shah just as we got rid of Mossadegh.

Like that senator who wants war but knows nothing of Iran, I really advise some to read a bit more.
Can I suggest Robert Fisk.

seems i'm not the only one aye, your repeated bullshit isn't fooling anyone. you give Israel a free pass to murder and starve Children because Hamas have some hostages which is absolutely disgusting.
Hard for you so I understand why your head is so scrambled..... I am only saying what the Labour party want.... to quote the Deputy Prim Minister acting for Keir today...

"The hostages are released, aid surges into Gaza and the cease fire is restored"

This is Labours solution to bring peace to the region....

Well fancy that, here's me supporting a Labour strategy and there's you acting like a twat calling me a fool.

Is Angela Rayner a fool tooo... in fact is anyone that happens to disagree with you a fool?.... thought so.

Well they are in fact still RAF bases. And the US still needs the permission of the UK Government to launch attacks from these bases.
Apologies then, I thought they were US bases. I suspect they will be moving assets closer to the ME rather than launching directly from the UK, but I agree with your point that we should have nothing to do with it at all

Obviously movements are ok and require no permission.

It wouldn't be easy for any UK PM to deny permission to a US President especially Trump. It would undoubtedly create a rift. But the UK and the PM should stick by our principals, he has said he wants to de-escalate the situation.

Military planes especially fighters and bombers need refueling so initially the tankers need to be deployed which I think would probably initially be Spain (near Savilla).
Let's hope they are more successful than cold war time about 1966 when an accidental collision during refueling meant the loss of 4 hydrogen bombs onto a village near Vera and Mojacar. The contamination has still not been cleared up.

Yeah, I remember reading something about that - there's a few warheads in the Atlantic isn't there?

You need two sides that are willing to compromise to make any negotiations stick. Israels and Palestines right to exist needs to be agreed by all parties. That simple compromise seems beyond the mental capacity of the parcipitants so what chance is there?

Originally one which was recovered from the Med but the others fell on a village called I think Palomeras. They burst open spilling plutonium and uranium isotopes but thankfully no nuclear explosion.
Very lucky.

Yesterday a lot of folks became aware of testimony under oath in March by the American DNI that Iran was not developing a nuclear weapon. When Trump was "reminded" of her testimony yesterday, he contradicted her. He didn't say what the source of his intelligence was. There's some more today -

Apparently

At 5:30 a.m. on June 10, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard tweeted a cryptic, three-minute video warning that “political elite and warmongers” are “carelessly fomenting fear and tensions between nuclear powers” — and that the world is “on the brink of nuclear annihilation.”

Trump saw the unauthorized video and became incensed, complaining to associates at the White House that she had spoken out of turn, according to three people familiar with the episode — two of them inside the administration and all granted anonymity to describe sensitive dynamics.

Her post came a few days after Israel hawks met with Trump at the White House to lobby him to support Israel’s attacks on Iran. In the eyes of Trump and some close to him, Gabbard was warning him not to greenlight Israel attacking Iran. Trump even expressed his disapproval to her personally, the three people said.

Politico also said Vice President JD Vance’s team sent a statement from Vance – unprompted – expressing confidence in Gabbard.

“Tulsi Gabbard is a veteran, a patriot, a loyal supporter of President Trump, and a critical part of the coalition he built in 2024,” Vance said.

Israel has the right to exist. It exists. Palestine whilst recognized in many countries does not exist to any meaningful degree as Israel will not allow it under any circumstances. They are playing a long game and assume they will be able to annex more and more land both Palestinian and in Lebanon.

As the very impressive Niko Peled says Israel has to be forced by the international community to withdraw from the West Bank and Gaza and a Palestinian state established by the international community.

Israel's air force has destroyed Iran's internal security headquarters, according to the country's defence minister.

"The tornado continues to hit Tehran," said Israel Katz.

"Air Force jets have now destroyed the Iranian regime's Internal Security Headquarters - the Iranian dictator's central repressive arm.

Asked about the chances of US involvement in the Middle East, Donald Trump says: "You don't seriously think I'm going to answer that question? 'Will you strike the Iranian nuclear component and what time exactly, sir, sir, would you strike it?'"

He adds: "You don't know that I'm going to even do. You don't know. I may do it. I may not do it."

He says "nobody knows what I'm going to do", but he can say this: "Iran's got a lot of trouble, and they want to negotiate.

"And I said, why didn't you negotiate with me before all this death and destruction? Why didn't you go?

"I said to people, why didn't you negotiate with me two weeks ago?"

There we have it, the leader of the free world ladies and gentlemen, a childish half-wit!

God help us!

Iranian officials being moved to a neutral (safe) place?

Very interesting. Found this from 4 days ago.

Sources in the Iranian resistance say that video has been released that supposedly shows private planes taking families of top regime leaders out of Iran. A fifth plane is said to have recently left Iranian airspace and was flying low between mountains on its way to the Russian border, according to one source. The reasons for these reported evacuations are still not clear, but there is rising talk that some Iranian leaders may be running away because they are afraid of vengeance from Israel or trouble in their own country.

Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrump

Remember that I predicted a long time ago that President Obama will attack Iran because of his inability to negotiate properly-not skilled!

Israel's strikes came soon after the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) passed its first resolution in 2 decades (on June 12, 2025) labeling Iran "non-compliant" with nuclear non-proliferation norms, citing “secret nuclear activities.

Q5: What does this mean for wider nuclear risks, such as proliferation, and the international nuclear regime?

A5:
Iran was testing the global nuclear order for decades with its enrichment to 60 percent, which is well beyond the percentage required for civilian peaceful purposes. It is worth emphasizing that immediately prior to Israel’s strike, the IAEA stated that Iran was not complying with its nuclear nonproliferation obligations and passed the first resolution against the country in 20 years. Iran had also announced last week the opening of a new uranium enrichment site. But Iran is not the only country that has been testing the nuclear regime in recent years.

Hey @BlueHammer85 did I miss your reply to my question?

I was wondering how you have managed to reconcile with me being fully in line with the Labour party strategy on the Middle East and I assume you being totally out of step? You call me a fool for wanting hostages released yet that is exactly what your Labour party want. Does this mean Angela Rayner, your beloved leader Keir Starmer and the Labour party are all fools for wanting exactly what I was calling for?

Have to do something to stop the killings and anything is better than nothing.
