I didn’t think the ref helped though in the seconds up to it. He was in the way, way more close than he needed to be. He had a factor in that for me.

A back four that I think have only started together at Plymouth, with very little pace and 1 midfielder, did fine enough in this friendly. Attack lacked cohesion, as expected. Wish they'd show more movement though - at the very least to draw defenders away from edge of the box

Reijnders looked class. Rodri looked like someone without gametime in his legs, but the full picture in his mind

Effectively the first game of pre season with a scratch back four and integrating new players, in the heat. Ridiculous

From that standpoint yes a decent effort. 2nd half with less attacking players were more defensively sound.

What I meant was and it's not a criticism particularly but we looked very much like we've always looked the last couple of years.

He goes into the tackle fine, the only reason his legs lift at the end of the tackle is because they literally deflect off the other guy’s legs like a ramp.

Basically got sent off for getting bounced by a bigger player.

A bit silly really.

Was not going to be overturned once given. Was a strange tackle and a harsh red. Hopefully Rico will learn from it.

The more I watch the red the more I'm thinking Lewis lifted his leg on purpose to protect himself. Don't think for one minute he intended to hit the other lads mush, but the way Lewis faked an injury on the front of his thigh, even though it didn't even get touched, makes me think he knew he'd fucked up and was already trying to work the ref to get out of a red
