Yes, they were utterly disgraceful in that final (on that night), but that doesn’t represent their level. They were chasing a historic treble, and the way they bottled the league probably hurt them too much and screwed up their final. Other than that, their Champions League run was impressive (they defeated Arsenal, Bayern, and Barça).

But I agree they are aging and have just lost their manager, replacing him with a novice. They certainly can’t win the Club World Cup. Still, they’re the toughest possible opponent compared to the other alternatives in this part of the bracket (Dortmund and River). I just meant we need to beat Juve, so we should take this relatively easy route to the final. Inter being the strongest in this half just underlines how easy it should be compared to the other route (Real + Bayern or PSG).
Why do we always get the difficult routes??

TBF no one wants to draw us either...
I get where you are coming from, but after last season- which has clearly ' scarred ' me, I imagine Real Mardarses won't be too bothered.

I am absolutely sick to the back teeth of playing them every season. When Arse played them it was a big deal because they hadn't met for circa 18 years. With us it's about every 18 days....( or so it feels!).

I thought Juve were bobbins in December.

Hopefully a full strength City team will put them to the sword.

If we finish top of the group we look to be on the weaker side of the draw - R16 Salzburg; QF Inter Milan or Dortmund; Semi Benfica or Chelsea. Unless the South American teams spring more surprises.

I am not worried about Juventus. They only just made top 4 last season.

They have had a bit of a new manager bounce, but not one of their players get in our team.

We play a strong team from the off which I think we will then we will fine.

Well, beat Juventus and we will be avoiding PSG, Bayern and probably Madrid.
All will be on opposite side of the draw

Hardest teams we can play on the route to final are Chelsea or Dortmund if we beat Juve and Madrid top their group.

If you offered us that at the start of the competition you would have us as favourites to get to the final.

The heat and chasing the result is my concern, so easy for Juve to just Iti sit in, we need an early goal.

I went to Orlando in May 2023 and fuck me, the heat was an absolute bitch. I was struggling to waltz around Disneyland never mind chase shadows on a football pitch.

I expect a slow-paced game tomorrow, more through necessity than through design - looking forward to it, mind.

Full strength I reckon, given Pep's comments at the end of the Al Ain game.

I agree - they're really not that good. Not only did they barely make top four in last season's Serie A, they have the second lowest ranking of all the European teams that have qualified (based on four years of UEFA coefficients) - only Salzburg rank lower. They haven't made it to the CL quarter finals in any of the last six seasons.
A lot of people here seem to be giving them a bit too much respect based on name recognition along with the fact that they beat us last season even though that game was played when we were just about at our lowest ebb of the campaign in the first half of December.

was at the barcelona game last year there, boy it was muggy, had a thunderstorm delay for 90 minutes before the game, so the pace was fairly slow, might be a bit different tomorrow as there is something on it
