Let's just hope Chelsea have trouble shifting some of these players on their 8 year contracts to make room.

I'm still not sure about the dippers. Just because it's so much harder to defend a title, and they literally had a perfect storm of circumstances last season. The chances of them going another season with so few injuries is pretty small. They're bringing in an excellent young midfielder, but let's not forget that we're bringing back the best midfielder in the world. Someone who is 100% guaranteed to be world class, not someone who we hope will be world class if he adapts to the league/system. But my main reason for backing us is that Pep has only ever failed to win the title in four out of 15 attempts in his managerial career. I feel like the board will get him the squad he wants and he'll do what he does.

The scousers have quietly built a strong squad, especially in midfield, but I genuinely wasn't that impressed with them last season in terms of their general play. They came across more as the default consistent team rather than a team that blew the rest of the league out of the water. 23/24 Arsenal was a much better team than 24/25 Liverpool for me.
I think last season, they won the league with a weaker team than Klopp ever had.....as you say, no injuries, could hardly of picked a better opening 10 games (granted still had to win most of them) but did and carried the momentum with no pressure from City being poor, and Arteta copying us by almost being as poor.

Excellent news. It's clear from last season that what we clearly lacked was yet another defensive midfielder to pass the ball sideways......

Who's next through the door I wonder? Calvin Phillips?
It’s not that bad of a move if he’s going to be back up to Zubimendi.

Not a long term solution, but having a decent squad is paramount to winning stuff.

The downside is that both your 6s would be brand new and need integrating.

Brentford are likely to get raided loads now that Frank has gone.

Brentford could be in trouble next season I reckon. I reckon Sunderland and Burnley are headed straight down but Leeds could stay up at Brentford's expense.

I'm pessimistic for next season TBH. We've dallied far too much on the striker situation - Sesko is apparently asking £350k a week which we aren't going to pay and now we've focused on Gyokeres the Dippers are in for him too and as it stands unless I really had my sights set on living in London I'd see them as a more attractive option.

I can see us finishing 3rd or even 4th unless we manage to get some top quality in a couple of areas up front and then, like you said for the midfielders, they'd need to integrate and get used to the team and we've got a tough run of games to start the new season. And this season is crucial if we want to keep Saliba etc as if we win nothing (and history tells us that's what's likely to happen) then some key players will be on at their agents to get themselves a move.

There arent really many top strikers around - not unless City want shot of Haaland or Madrid bin off Mbappe in which case we wouldn't pay the wages and there would be other teams they'd most likely want to go to.

The talk about Rodrygo joining from the Spanish Rags is hilarious. We've said we'd be interested if Madrid let him go - in which case no doubt City, Bayern, Dippers, a host of Saudi teams etc would also be in for him and could afford him and his big wages so there's no way he's coming unless he's somehow bought into the Arteta 'project' that's now in its 5th year and has yielded a Community shield and an FA Cup (that was won with Unai Emery's team anyway).

You should pay up for an exceptional 9 and just relax the 100% siege mentality approach.

You only need to go there March to May, if necessary. Until then, coast along at whatever percentage you need to win games.

Mental freshness in the run in is the key thing.

The Scottish bloke who managed our rivals knew this and Pep does too.

So we're after yet another defender, Valencia's Mosquera but in news that relates to us signing a player who operates in a position that we actually need it seems we've hijacked Sp*rs' bid for Ebereche Eze from Palace - personal terms agreed and supposedly a £68m fee to Palace. I'd imagine we aren't getting Rodrygo from Madrid then although rumours persist that may still happen and we'd sell Martinelli.

Still no news on a striker. All the talk of Sesko or Gyokeres - why not just get Watkins from Villa for around £35m - he's an Arsenal fan and in the absence of a true world class striker available (Sesko/Gyokeres are still a big risk) he's a proven PL goalscorer and would do a very good job.
