Juventus (N) | CWC | Post Match Thread

What’s going on? I can’t believe everyone is celebrating this like we are fantastic again.
We played a second string Juve side who clearly weren’t up for it.

They still scored 2. Our defence is a shambles.

I hope we are, the energy was noticeable and some of the forward players seem to be on it.

As a team though it’s so easy to counter on us. It’s just not being addressed.
Indeed. A bit giddy. But regardless of the weak opposition I feel the enthusiasm shown must be welcomed. We certainly look like we will be far more competitive next season. I agree with those who say the competition will gather momentum with the start of the Round of 16. Might even watch a game or two who knows.

I’m really pleased for Nunes, he seems to have settled in nicely after a dodgy start and looking the business now. My only moan is that Erling first touch is shocking for a player of his level . Phil looks rejuvenated and Rodri back gives the team its mojo back

Is there a highlights on TV tonight? Been working all day
There were some short highlights of the previous game on the City Website. Checked because missed the previous game. Watched the game yesterday so haven't checked yesterday game. There are extended highlights, 12 minutes, on YouTube.

Not sure what you’re on about.

As a team last night I thought we were excellent all over the pitch with lots of competition for each position. However Akanji has made it easier for Pep in selecting his defensive options by making himself last choice in that position.
Luckily I don't think Pep bases his team selection on what Bluemoon thinks.

Decent performance against an aging and declining Juventus. We looked younger, more mobile and more energetic - especially in midfield which is everything we werent last season.

Best news is we have plonked ourselves in the better half of the draw and lets hope we can take advantage of that. Also kicking off the last 16 game at 9pm in the evening in sweltering Orlando will help the players cope. Reijnders and Rodri in midfield already looks a really solid fulcrum to build around, and in Ait-Nouri we finally have a left back playing at left back - itll never catch on. Doku was brilliant last night - the problem is he likely wont affect a game like that again until October.

His first touch for the move that led to Fodens goal was great. I thought he looked more involved in his cameo than he has in a while.

Pep should go to all the players and tell them from the off no guarantee to play so no moaning during the season.

If they dont accept that then loan or sell.

I like the idea of a big squad, the depth we have atm is incredible and I think needed If our injury record in previous seasons is anything to go by.

I know Pep wont but he might have to as we have a shitload of players on big contracts.

If we can keep a steady back 5 it will come. That’s why I think we will need to move a CH on else otherwise we will rotate and lose continuity. LB is locked in now, and probably Dias. The other 2 positions will see weekly variation I think

After the underwhelming season we've just had, we're allowed to be positive about a decent campaign. As for Juve not being all that good; agreed. But we dropped plenty of points last season against average sides. Spurs, rags, Saints off the top of my head.

Ha, fully agree. I really enjoyed the game.

Just for the record though I’m not an attention seeker who goes against the grain. I just don’t watch City with blue tinted glasses. If we are good I’ll say it, if we aren’t, same applies.

We’ve played 3 poor teams and all of them have ripped through us on 2 or 3 occasions. Last seasons defensive issues are still there.

It’s great we are doing much better attacking wise.

I’m really happy the energy levels and press have improved as well but when we are playing PL sides they are gona take these chances teams will get.

I suppose though it might be a Keegan season, we’ll just score more than you ha.

I don’t think you are negative or an attention seeker. I just think you are wrong :-)

Except for the control that set up the move for the 4th which was out of this world.

I actually thought his first touch was so much better last night, plenty of give, turn and go.

I thought Erling’s first touch was much better. It was his last touch that wasn’t too great last night. But he still scored which is the main thing.

Energy.

Reijnders is a breath of fresh air, He's everywhere without even looking like he's breaking sweat, Having him alongside Rodri this season is huge.

So much energy in our pressing game along with quicker tempo in our play, The ball is being moved so much quicker all over the pitch.

Is it just me or is anyone else surprised by Ait-Nouri? His level of performance and ability is incredible, Really enjoying watching him play, He will be a cracking player for us.

I thiugh Nunes was outstanding tonight too, I still don't think he's what is required long term for a right back position but can definitely play a part for us this season against lesser teams. I think he would get caught out against strong opposition in Europe as we've seen before from the likes of Zinchenko, Delph or Cancelo ect
I take the same view about Dias. He's no longer good enough
