11 | Jeremy Doku - 2025/26

He has always been top-drawer in terms of his dynamism and dribbling. The difference that has been noticeable, and will be a factor going forward, is that he has a runner outside and inside of him. Last season, it would often be the case that he would do his thing and others would wait for him to complete his movement. Now, Ait-Nouri attacks the space outside, and Reijnders and Marmoush attack it inside. That is difficult for any defence to cope with.

He’s the best winger in the world at beating his player, but he’s seems to have took Henry’s advice beating one player getting his head up now that’s dangerous.

That’s been his criticism his career here and at Belgium. Coaches did say if he added that composure to his game he’d be unstoppable.

He looks like it’s clicked. His output this season could explode. You add composure to his natural ability to beat his man. Now you have a world class winger.

Great game from Doku and my MoTM. Still - Doku needs a run of consistent performances to change my opinion of him.

Is there a better winger in 1v1s in the world, teams going to double/treble up on him because he's guaranteed to beat the first man every time,if he can pick the right pass and add a few goals he's unstoppable.

He played well when he was fit last season. It will come down to injuries with Doku, if he stays fit he will be an unbelievable player. Given he's so explosive I worry he will continue to break down every 5 games like last year.

Don't know about the first bit but they were doubling up on him last season. As oldius said, with Ait-Nouri attacking the space outside, and Reijnders and Marmoush attacking it inside, they can't afford to treble up on him and probably not double up either. Our left side is bloody dangerous now.

Looks decisive which is the only thing that's been missing from his game. Hope it continues!

Said it in the game thread last night but…that goal last night reminded me of Mane.

Typically in that situation, Doku would either already be out wide or he’d make sure he’d go wide when RAN gets the ball. But he feigned doing that and spun in behind, the movement was deliberate.

Makes me wonder if it’s something that Lijnders/French have brought in. A bit like when Arteta used to work with Sterling on his movement.

It’s finally clicked, and the new system suits him - player of the season incoming

Seems more mature I thought watching him last night. Shoulders back, working hard and just showing his quality.

Playing with freedom.

Never been a fan but he has played really well in this tournament.
Hopefully he can continue his form into the season and fulfil his potential.

Craig Bellamy coached him for the national team, had nothing but good things to say about his character and skills, predicted a brilliant future for the lad. The squad has not had time to gell, when it does he will be a major threat to low block defences, his acceleration (which cannot be taught) and foot speed will make him very hard to leave out imo.
