It's Quiet the £250m return

I see the fee for Livramento like the fees for KDB, Walker & Stones. Everyone scoffed & said we were being rinsed, but the three of them cost us roughly £15m per season over roughly 10 years.

That's the kind of long-term view we need to take on the £70m Livramento, MGW or Ezé. Plus all three tick the all important HG box.

As for Nunes, post improvement, he's yet to be properly tested in an important, high pressure, top level game. I suppose we won't know how he'll fare until he plays in a few. Only then can we properly judge him.

If only we could transplant Rico's brain into Nunes' body, we'd have a hybrid to be reckoned with!
I’d only pay £70 mill for Livramento he’s all we really need. Doubt we’d get him for that though.

We bought KdB thinking he was elite. Walker was first choice English full back.
Stones had that potential.
My own feeling is that Eze and MGW are both decent players who I wouldn't reject but they have already reached mid 20's and remain peripheral internationals. We haven't an obvious need for players in that position.
Personally I wouldn't pay over the odds.
Livramento is a bit different as he is both a bit younger and plays in the position where we most obviously lack quality.
A larger fee is far more explicable for him than the other two.
One out of MGW/Ezé is dependent on player sales. It's recognised by most that we must acquire a RB, & Livramento being young & HG ticks all the boxes.

The fees attained & wages saved from player sales should afford us these acquisitions & set us up nicely for some time to come.

As for buying KDB, few pundits or those in the media thought he was an elite player. They still viewed him as a Cheksea flop. However, City wouldn't have bought him for £55m if we didn't think he was worth the dough. The same can be said of Walker & Stones who most also thought were a waste of money.

But as I've said previously, the three of them have roughly worked out at £15m per season to us over a decade of sterling service, & our judgement call was rewarded with several trophies & titles.

If we were a team buying players to flip them, then the buying price would matter more. City tend to invest for the long-term, & not to buy & flip for a quick profit. That's more Brighton's model than ours.

Any word or idea on where walker/Grealish/Phillips will go? Would think they'll be still without clubs come last week if the window

I'd actually like us to hold onto Nunes as a back up right back, Personally I think he offers so much more than Rico Lewis. Nunes will do a job against the lesser sides if and when our main right back needs resting.

To be fair to him he's been asked to play a position he's never played before and although he's made errors last season I think we've to cut him some slack, He's actually been really good towards the end of last season he helped us out massively.

If we want to get to were we want to be which is winning back the title and winning another European Cup then we should be looking at PSG as they have set the standard last season big time, They've arguably the two best full backs in Europe right now and truth be told Nunes wouldn't be good enough to clean their boots.

We need to sign a right back in this window and not be messing around chopping and changing throughout the season with stop gaps.

If Nunes is not in Pep’s plans, he could provide a very nice transfer fee given his recent performances. He’s shown he is a very versatile player, playing anywhere along the right touchline for us, with pace and has always shown himself to be fit as a butcher’s dog!

i'm imagining nunes vs salah or saka and what I am seeing is nunes bodying them with his clearly superior physicality and keeping up with their pace.
Salah isn't quick any more and he plays on the right. Nunes has gone from zero to a very significant player for us in 12 months. His attacking skills in the right back position are excellent. What is unclear is his concentration and positioning. I simply haven't seen enough of him defending to know but if his offensive game has improved, why can't his defending also improve?

Offensively he’s streets ahead of Livramento, defensively he isnt

Think one of Ake or Akanji will go as well

Gibbs shite can fuck off, constantly moaning at team mates, fucking bad apple

don't mind nunes at right back, don't think he loses concentration more hes learning on the job, the more he plays in that position the better he will become, last year we didn't have anyone really who played well except maybe kovacic who i feel is vastly underrated on here, and imo wont be sold

nunes ,rico, and akanji seem to have bore the brunt of the blame for last season, all 3 are more than capable, with the seemly good strengthening of the squad im sure all 3 will do a great job, apart for the Squad rules we need to adhere to im quite happy right the way through the squad, and looking forward to a successful season (fingers crossed)

i put the blame on last season at the feet of the squad planning, but over the jan and so far this summers transfer window i think we've recified a lot of the short comings we had last season, didn't see the juv game ,but from all accounts we look like we are going places this season(fingers crossed)

Personally I think your optimism in comparing MGW/Eze with KdB a tad optimistic
IMHO a closer approximation in terms of attained success would be Delph, a fine PL midfielder who served us well but who would not have been worth a large premium fee.
Im not convinced we need another midfielder unless they bring truly outstanding attributes as we already have significant depth in this position.
