got nothing against him but I definitely think he has to go because we have too many defenders, he's the only one of the rotation crop (stones, ake, him, khusanov, reis) that is both non homegrown and near his 30's. i know pep loves him but it's time to move on

100% Crowther :)
Not in my opinion, because none of them are right backs, so it’s always a compromise and forcing a player into a position where they’re not at their best.

Stones is a world class centre back and should always play there. Lewis isn’t good enough for City at all to be honest, really needs selling. Akanji just too prone to brain farts and not quick enough to be a top class full back. He’s ok as a squad player at centre half.

Nunes could yet prove to be the best option unless we sign a proper right back.
I like Akanji, decent CB but doesn’t have the ability or awareness to push into midfield when playing as a full back. Probably not first choice now but good squad player.

When have we seen Stones or Akanji at RB last time??
When?

Neither can offer that intense running at a fullback position anymore.
It's time over for Stones and Akanji as RB and that's why we don't see them there anymore. That option has gone, times have changed.
Akanji played there in the cup final. And spent 90 minutes putting crosses into the crowd.

That is because Akanji is an extremely terrible footballer, and has been lucky not to cost us both the CL final (being totally unaware of Lautaro Martinez's existence) & the PL (in the 2nd to last game away at Spurs). And both times he just ambled back aimlessly afterwards.

I remember him making reference once - on one of the 'Inside City' episodes, about 'the skills that pay the bills' and almost choked on my tea.

Good at long multiplication, pretty crappy at football (which is why, I suspect, Dortmund let him go for next to nowt).

No he isn't terrible. That's just wrong.

Well that's hyperbolic nonsense. He made mistakes in those games, and can be infuriating but he's evidently not a terrible footballer. Aside from anything else (displacing Walker in the team that won the treble; Pep trusting him) in that CL final it was literally him moving forward and playing the pass to Bernardo that unlocked Inter.

Careful, some people don't like to hear the truth

Yes he needs to go, him and Ake
do give over, what's happening to this forum - it's become infested with brickbrains?

The collected wisdom of a trio of chumps.

Thees and only thees. I support this team. I support the players when they are one pitch and want them to do the best job they can. However, I do think it is ok to criticise players if they deserve criticism. Some here don't. Some seem to think it makes them "a bigger blue" if all players are always above criticism.
