Lets face it when it comes to immigration Badenoch can say what she wants like Sunak did but for a certain level of the electorate across all Party's - and I hate saying it because its wrong on all levels - skin colour affects the vote they can attract. Until we can cross that bridge and defeat the enemy there will be no meritocracy in this or any country
Remember this
She's right, race and nationality are not the same thing, but she admits that race is a thing, that nationality is a thing, hence African Americans, African race, American nationality. As for Rishi Sunak, he's British Asian and has said so himself.
So what am I? English is an ethnicity, both my parents are English, so I'm English, born here, a citizen of England and a British national, so I'm either English English, possibly Anglo-Saxon English, perhaps English British, white British maybe? But I've got to be one of them, right? If Rishi Sunak can have an ethnicity and a nationality surely I can?
Try getting away with that question around a polite Islington dinner table, it simply cannot be talked about.
Into that silence rushes Tommy Robinson and Farage to fill the void.
Oh by the way....
You can't be an ethnic minority in this country if there isn't an ethnic majority to be in minority with! It's a testament to the vacuity of your politics that you can't articulate what that majority might be! Hence right wing twats rush in where progressives fear to tread.
And another lie progressives tell themselves, that we're a nation of immigrants, that's simply not true. We've had tiny waves of immigrants for sure, the Romans, the Normans, the Danish and so on, all relatively small numbers, but sufficient to give some credence to Danial Defoe's "mongrel race" quote. But as the dark ages gave way to the middle ages and into the modern era the waves became ripples, then a trickle, usually a few thousand skilled folk over time, here and there
Truth is we've been a remarkably homogeneous nation for hundreds of years.
Until recently.
That's now changed and this change has accelerated over the last thirty years. You might approve, you might disapprove, what you can't do is pretend it's not happening or when forced to recognise that it is say it's nothing new as it's always been the case, coz that is a lie and we all know it.
