it’s also a totally wank stadium in a totally shit location. the games in Philly and Atlanta are “city centre” and even if you aren’t staying near them there are ways to leave other than by car. Orlando is a total shite stadium and is miles from anywhere. after the last game we hung around an hour or two for a beer in a pub but they have a rule that no pub outside downtown can open after midnight so after tonight there will be nowhere to stop for a drink and everyone trying to get an uber in choca traffic at midnight. friggin nightmare. we moved hotels to one near the ground - cheap as chips (prob cos the area is a shithole)

I am not defending the stadium, it is shit.

But, you know they have free shuttle buses which run to downtown, which is only 1 1/2 miles away, and places like The Soccer Republic at Harp & Celt will be open until 2am.

It’s the need to show-horn multiple games in every day for World Cups that is the issue it seems to me.
East coast is 5 hours for UK and 6 for CET?
A kick off time of 7pm, midnight here is maybe just about ok?
To get prime euro viewing we’ll get local time kos of say 4pm and 7pm. That would be ok, so 9pm and midnight KO times here, but anything outside of that is gonna create issues either there or here imho, esp if they try and force more than 2 KO times in each day …

Personally I wouldn’t mind 9pm local KO and 2am here but I’m sure the tv stations would be up in arms.

They've already set up the group formats with kick off dates and venues but obviously once the draw is made will need to then consider kicks off times and do the best they can.

The east zone will be 5hrs behind us (6 CET) but there is the central zone with games in Dallas, Houston, Kansas (6hrs behind us) and Monterrey, Mexico City and Guadalajara (7hrs behind us) plus then the west coast games in LA, San Fran, Seattle and Vancouver which are 8hrs behind us.

Each group is assigned to a "zone" which helps a little...

The difficulty really comes in the knockouts where you want them to be evening kick offs locally for atmosphere but that will hinder the experience for European supporters at home. As the competition is expanded and has the stupid "best 3rd placed teams" to reduce 48 to 32 the groups will be as boring as the Euro's where teams look to bore their way through as a best 3rd placed team. It will be the knockouts where it comes alive.

Cheers for that added info.

Re your last couple of sentences, it will be interesting to see if the likes of bbc and sky are as negative about the first two weeks of it as they have been this summer …

This could be a stinky game with some of their players having a point to prove, including Cancelo, The City players will have to keep their heads and not fall for any dirty tricks

A City win and no injuries please

I'd stay up if it was an important game, bugger staying up to watch us against a Saudi side.
Good luck though blues, hope you all enjoy the game

Yes - I'd already used the app on the tv as our games against Hammerby and St Polten in the women's CL were on last year.

Tip> The pop-up is annoying, but if you press "back-up" on your remote it'll disappear immediately.

City is City!

Got the kids Sports Day tomorrow at school so going to have to try and avoid the score until about midday before rewatching it.

Just FYI for those asking (@pee dubya) if you search 'full football matches' on Google then loads of websites come up and the most recent ones tend to be on the front page. There's also a subreddit on Reddit called 'football highlights' which has them requested/listed.
You should be OK. Apparently nobody else cares so they won't know the score. Unless we lose of course

A test event for the World Cup next summer. They'll learn from the issues with this tournament and should address them the next time, with more appropriate kick off times in certain locations to avoid heat/storms etc.
At least they have learned lessons from this.....guess who they're in discussions with for the next cwc in 2029? Qatar!
