FIFA Club World Cup 2025 | Knockout Stage

You know and I’m not tempting fate or anything but you normally get at least one upset in these stages of tournaments, and hopefully this is it for today/tonight ..

I’m not really sure this is an upset. How many times have we seen Brazilian teams beating European teams now? And Inter aren’t exactly the pick of the crop from UEFA.

The Brazilian teams are just fresher, better acclimatised and they seem to want it more.

A 44 year old keeper, and 40 year old Silva in central defence for Fluminese. This draw is looking very favourable for us. We just need to focus on our game and get it done.

Let's be honest; we looked screwed until the turn of the year. Luckily, we managed to find some semblance of form, and managed to secure a CL spot. But with the new faces we've brought in during this window (and last january as well), I'm looking forward to the new season far more than I was at the end of last season. But, to get back to your point; yeah, Inter don't look anything like the team we faced in Istanbul.

To be fair, Inter must be knackered/shellshocked, after a season where they were close to a treble, but ended up with nothing.

It's clearly making a difference that the Brazilian clubs are mid season, compared to the December CWC when they're coming off the end of a tough season.

I’m half tempted to book some flights for the final if we win tonight. It would be tempting fate and you just know Palmer would knock us out in the semis.
There's a bit too much tempting fate on here right now. I'm old school, let's just try and win the next game and go from there. The heat and sub -par pitches over there could be a bit of a leveller and after the season we've just had and all the new signings bedding in we need to be realistic.

Sorry to be a bit of a downer lol.
