I must admit I was arrogant enough to think the final was in the bags. I think I will lower my expectations next time, the club has not played elite level for 2 years now and it's obvious more has to be done.

When you pick up just one point against the rags you know that a lot more has to be done.

Just woke up and seen the score.

We've seen lots of encouraging things during these friendlies and a few concerning things. So, the same as every pre-season really.

Glad the lads are going back home with minutes under their belts and a solid 4-6 weeks off before the proper football starts again.
Friendlies, pre-season, before the proper football starts lol. Let’s pretend it was meaningless and we didn’t want to win it shall we

This tournament had the potential to provide two things.
1. An opportunity to try the new players
2. Make a bit of dough
It appears that one trumped the other and we didn't achieve either.
How many times will we fall to the exact same ways to concede goals?
The team needs a defensive overhaul, and Viana must be strong to show the door to some of the players that cannot play the Pep way anymore (they are still decent defenders, but are now square pegs in round holes).
We need recovery speed. That is number 1, 2, and 3 priority.

Nice to see a defeat in a glorified friendly still brings out the rags and dippers on the thread, posters stand out like sore thumbs.
Get a nice break now lads.
Not really a glorified friendly was probably worth more than Champions league to the winners, we had a big squad out there which should have done better than this mornings performance. I'd much rather we continued in the competition.

.

Can we get a coach who knows how to organise a defence instead of Kolo? Nice guy but he offers nothing.
Harsh on Kolo, how can anyone possibly think the defensive issues are down to a man who has been at the club for two weeks? We’ve been shit at the back for a year.

Boom or Bust cycle for us at the moment, seems to be no in between where we’re bedding in a number of players.

Better team gets mugged. Pep needs to sort it out. Happened all last season, his opposite numbers are out foxing him.

Just watched the goals the transition we were done by was like last season for me and typical of our player closing down then the opposition comes away with the ball and cook us down the wing and Dias duals are appalling can’t win a header and slow all he brings is leadership a voice and pep loves that it’s why he will start every game next season when fit and that for me detrimental to our team!

We lost. We will have a nice rest, start the season and off we go.

THE BEST TEAM IN THE LAND AND ALL THE WORLD. :-)
Unfortunately, that defeat means they will not have a nice rest.
It also means that the club management team will be having heated discussions about how we lost that game.
Lose and go out to psg or Madrid, OK... annoying, but explainable. Lose to a Saudi team (who are decent, but nothing special) is going to have serious repercussions.
This defeat will have everyone from Khaldoon down to have serious questions asked.
Viana must act decisively now.
