Al Hilal (N) | CWC | Post Match Thread

This waving of the arms shite has crept in recently like when players put their hand over their mouth when talking

Wankers

Play football as it should be and no crowd would need geeing up
Fair enough if they do it and they’re playing well but this fella is garbage

Absolutely amateurish performance especially in defence, did we want to go out so the players can have an extra weeks holiday?. None of us saw that coming did we, but a huge reality check again

I’m here in USA with my two daughters and future brother in Law. Finally got back to our digs. Words fail me. I’ve been let down by City big time before, we all have. This is worse than Wigan.
For me, personally, it’s not about the money that our trip has already cost, nor the extensive planning on booking two routes based on finishing first or second in the group or the time off work. It’s not even the dream. It’s about a shambles which we had to watch. Probably the worst defensive display I have ever seen by City. What a kick in the teeth to me, us, and the people who put effort in.
Feel for you and can only imagine how it feels after making the effort to travel. Expectations were so high with the way the draw had worked out, nobody expected to lose that one.

Internally at a high level the club will be absolutely livid going out to a Saudi team, it was worst case scenario for the club really.

Paying out money to watch city in a meaningless cup does not mean we are going to win every game season starts in 6 weeks forget it and move on, we won't be playing in that heat in 6 weeks time we were running on empty from midway second half to the end.

I've been saying since i watched them play Real Madrid that Al Hilal are a very good side ... hardworking, organised, very game, Italian manager etc.... the signs have been there all week that this match clearly wasn't gonna be an easy game for City.

All the usual defensive problems remain for City at the back I'm afraid, we get caught on the break far too easily, and we also missed chances upfront that, if converted, could have put us through .... but the plusses are that we did manage to score three times in this game, we've had a good run out, and our players can now return home to get some well earned rest.

All we can do now is learn from it, and prepare as well as we can do for the new season, which begins for us at Wolves in a little over six weeks tiime .... and they're gonna be itching to beat us after losing Nunes and Ait Nouri too.

But if Pep can't see these defensive problems, and adequately fix them, it could well turn out to be yet another fruitless season for us.

Happy clappers are also out

That is Bluemoon
It's laughable the doom and gloom for a glorified friendly.
We played well the other night, we played crap last night.

I can't see the problem!

End of season, a bad season I might add, new signings, heat, different 11's starting, the list is endless.

Just wait for the pep out posters which I'm sure will be along shortly.

How have they let you down?, you pay money to watch a game of football there is always the chance its a poor game or a loss. Travelling further or spending more money gives no divine right of a victory.

Work is fun this morning ha, fair do's though, i'd have been taking the piss if their sides had gone out to a wank Saudi side.

After a long season which was marred by inconsistency, loads of new players, loads of tired players and ridiculous heat there was always going to be bumps in the road. Sure being away will have helped the team bond, pep to get some new ideas across and learn more about how we can get back to challenging this coming and next season. Take the positives, allow the players some rest and be ready for the premier league starting. Not one to lose sleep over.

Haalands goal ....

One of the biggest issues is our defensive shape off the ball. Whilst Juve couldn't deal with the press, Al Hilal were very composed. They took a few touches and got round our initial charge and then it was like watching school kids - chasing the ball rather than defending the space or picking up a man - same as last season.

Most teams in the PL are comfortable enough on the ball to do the same to us which is a concern. The press needs to be worked on.
