Al Hilal (N) | CWC | Post Match Thread

Lets be honest many fans were about 50% arsed about it whilenother 100% up for it, o. whole some are very dissapoint I expect many others will get over it quite quickly

The most disapointing thing is we wanted the new players bedded in and a semblance of a new team for the future ti be shaoed, but we got a little showingnof that but still a reliance on the ones who let us down last year

We can’t play that high line with those 3
Too old and too slow, and it’s def time we replaced Ederson he hardly ever makes a save,I hope pep’s been working on a plan B
Otherwise one long ball and we’re done.

I’m here in USA with my two daughters and future brother in Law. Finally got back to our digs. Words fail me. I’ve been let down by City big time before, we all have. This is worse than Wigan.
For me, personally, it’s not about the money that our trip has already cost, nor the extensive planning on booking two routes based on finishing first or second in the group or the time off work. It’s not even the dream. It’s about a shambles which we had to watch. Probably the worst defensive display I have ever seen by City. What a kick in the teeth to me, us, and the people who put effort in.
Let down?
Worse defensive display?
Fuck me has the sun got to people on here or what?

These are all glorified friendlies. What is your post all about!

Try thinking about the fact we've got a nice break coming up where we could have started the season on our arse if we'd gone all the way in this competition.

Paying out money to watch city in a meaningless cup does not mean we are going to win every game season starts in 6 weeks forget it and move on, we won't be playing in that heat in 6 weeks time we were running on empty from midway second half to the end.
Clueless comment. I’m just back in my hotel after the game. Not only is it not a meaningless cup, but what heat exactly are you talking about? The weather was absolutely fine this evening and not a factor at all.

After a long season which was marred by inconsistency, loads of new players, loads of tired players and ridiculous heat there was always going to be bumps in the road. Sure being away will have helped the team bond, pep to get some new ideas across and learn more about how we can get back to challenging this coming and next season. Take the positives, allow the players some rest and be ready for the premier league starting. Not one to lose sleep over.
Not one to lose sleep over. We are out of the Club World Cup in farcical circumstances with a massive question mark over our central defence.

I think if you fail on such a stage, there is no coming back from it. You don't accept failure.

Glorified friendlies? Possibly the least informed drivel post I’ve ever read on here.

Mate stop talking sense.
The bedwetters are out in force. Apparently this is more important than the champions league to some.

There is a very strong smell of red cartel wankers in this thread.

Be warned.
whether it’s more important than the CL is irrelevant, on that showing and with that defence we won’t need to worry about fixture congestion and the later stages of the CL next season.

Our central defence cracked under weak pressure in a massive game. If you think it's a glorified friendly, you are an idiot.

If we continue to play a high line then Khusanov has to start, he is the only defender with pace (see Kyle Walker 2017 until about 2023).

Stones, Ake, Akanji and Dias - who goes?

Any or all of them for me. Stones and Ake are never fit, while Akanji has been a great signing for the money his mistakes are becoming more frequent and Dias is a shadow of the player he once was. People calling it a glorified friendly are wrong. It's a competition we wanted to win and going further would have boosted our transfer fund, which looking at this game we're going to need.

You may be 50% arsed, but don’t try to speak for “we as fans” just because you don’t care. I’ve been in the USA for the full tournament and I’m 100% arsed that we lost today. I’ve now got to plan something else for 2 weeks before I fly home the day after the final.

Fuck sake what happened? Recorded match to watch after work today, heard result on radio, typical.
What a wasted oppertunity after Inter lost.

Woke up to a shocking result. Let's be clear it was a competition the team wanted to win, it wasnt a friendly and we've conceded 4 to a team that shouldn't get near us. The same defensive frailties rearing there head again. It's just wiped out all the positivity we had gained from the Juve win.

What is going on in this thread? Is everyone just in denial here or something??

Now that we are out I’m seeing constant references to meaningless competition, preseason friendly, before the proper football starts

It was the club World Cup, everyone wanted to win it and the prize money was off the charts. The only ones belittling the competition were the ones not in it and that was purely out of spite.

The positive is the players get a decent rest before the season starts. But let's not sugarcoat it, that's a dreadful result against a side we really should be putting away.

It only highlights that there's still loads to be done in the transfer market. We can't be going into the season with the usual suspects in defence
