Because he's had a look at them and realised they ain't good enough.
But we've spent £100m on them.

And we aren't good enough with the old guard. Either way it falls on Peps toes.we cant keep spending fortunes for players to be sat on the bench whilst our older players destroy the season because they can keep the pace and intensity.

Make it make sense.

Just watched the highlights, check out Gundo for their first goal, ambling back instead of getting to the player who eventually forces the rebound for the header. Second goal how the fuck are we allowing that? Third is Koulibaly beating Ake and Dias in the air & fourth we leave guys unmarked in the box and lose headers again.

Seems to me like it’s the usual problems.
Yep defence smables.

Might sound simple but If Khusanov had come on at extra time and played on the right we might not have conceded the 4th goal.
Nico Gonzalez would have been a good addition as well. It's immaterial now

Wow. Are you joking? He was our breath of fresh air and player of the month before Pep took him off for conceding a first half yellow card. He was our one defender who was up to scratch. Pep's subsequent treatment of him is more likely to "damage them and us." But I think that Khusi will rise above it all and show how wrong Pep has been. Akanji and Ruben together are becoming the rabbits in the headlights, not Khusi.
It was a combination of the first half yellow and also consistently passing the ball to Bournemouth players. His performance was that poor it has spooked Pep ever since

We weren’t going to rectify a season of malaise in a few short weeks, & so it proved the same issues that have plagued us:
Not taking chances, getting punished on breaks, not tracking back, transitions.
We definitely need another full back.
Truth be told, on chances, this game could’ve been over by halftime, their keeper kept them in it, the heat & pre season fitness also would’ve played its part.
Plenty for Pep to ponder over, & a clear indication that defence is still an issue that needs to be addressed

The first half cost us. We played with high intensity, created many chances, but couldn't secure a bigger advantage. Both Gvardiol and Nunes picked yellow cards and Pep had to sub them off in the 2nd half, wasting possible changes in midfield and attack. Thought changes in attack were needed already before the ET.

My worry in the 1st half was that we pressed hard and couldn't sustain the intensity. Indeed, some players got tired, we couldn't control the transitions anymore and they had a field day countering us after the break.

The right rhythm wasn't there, the team is still very dependent on Rodri for balance between attack and defence. Let's hope Rodri will be able to play 80-90 minutes come September. Without him we are a bit soft in the middle and less organised.
To be honest you should be able to trust players on a booking. Vinnie got booked loads of times in games for us and stayed on. Should’ve maybe just put Akanji centre half for a bit of pace( or Khusanov for genuine pace)and saved a sub. Without Nunes to attack we had nobody to support Savinho for the rest of the game.

Things we already knew happened in that game. Dias is running in treacle and not half as physically dominant as he’s portrayed. We need to buy a right back and have Nunesand a genuine right back for that side next season.

I think someone who has paid to travel over there to support us is entitled to be pissed off at watching a carbon copy of virtually every performance from last season.
What was they expecting, prime 1970 Brazil?
Don't these fans realise we're still in rebuild mode with new players trying to fit in and new staff trying to find their feet in a team that underperformed big time last season or are these fans thinking it'll be like playing FIFA on Xbox where a couple of clicks and job done.

We have fans now, new fans, who have only known success so all this getting beat isn't in their DNA.

Christ. I’ve just seen their second goal, it’s genuinely unbelievable how we have a 2v1 on the half way line yet somehow none of them are marking a bloke that’s 2 yards away from them.

It’s shit from the players and from Pep, suicidal tactics against a team (as they all do against us) who play on the counter.

Thanks, and tbh I’m just pissed off like we all are. Don’t mean to be argumentative. We’re all blues at the end of the day. Sat in my hotel room in Orlando now at 3am coming up with a new plan for the next 2 weeks,

Khusanov will show that he’s good enough, but he’ll be long gone when that happens.

Just when we thought that City were back after a solid display vs Juventus.

I'm trying not to take too much out of the Juventus game. If they were in the prem, they would finish around 10th i reckon.

Al Hilal just showed us exactly what happened in a lot of games last season. Wait for City to lose the ball on the edge of their box or for an inevitable shit Doku/ Sav cross and break with numbers and pace against our ridiculously high and slow back 4.

We absolutely need some pace in that back line if we are to persist with this kamikaze halfway line defending. As soon as the ball is turned over we are done. Either that or defend 20 yards deeper and leave Rodri on the toes of the defenders.

Time for a new keeper

Look at the difference tonight?

It’s all great when Eddie smashes a fantastic assist the full length of the pitch, but at times it’s like having “the last lad who gets picked in the school yard” in goal

Let our creative players provide the assists, but please, more than anything, let’s get someone in goal who can keep the fucking ball out?

FFS people chill out. Everyone acknowledged that we needed a rebuild, rebuilds take time. Just because we won the first 3 games everyone was expecting that we are back to city of old and last season was deleted from history.

How realistic is that? Things take time, we played a good team and got beat, that's football. Did anyone honestly expect for our turnaround to not take time? We can't go from the shower of shite we dished out week in week out last term to suddenly becoming brilliant again.

Take the positives, accept the negatives (for now) and things will come good once the new coaching staff and players settle in. We're going to have some disappointing games this season, we're going to concede some goals in the same way we did last season, if you can't accept that now, maybe you should take a season off.
The rebuild will take longer, if we refuse to play the players that was bought in for the rebuild.

Still plenty of time to get it right here. I didn’t watch it (will be today) but we still have 2 months to do our business in the market. Plus, we’ll have a much fitter Rodri, which will make a world’s difference. I do think a clearout is needed. Play the young lads Pep!

Aahhh the ol' "but we were in Division 2 once!!!!"

Times have changed, move on.
Ah the old lets forgot about our past because it didn't happen bollocks.

Yes times have changed but I won't forget where we've come from but these entitled fans are stomping their feet at us getting beat in a competition that is meaningless in my opinion is fucking laughable.
