Al Hilal (N) | CWC | Post Match Thread

Come on chaps dont fall into the bullshit narrative of the media (BBC) thats its a fooking massive failure and all thevold problems are still there .................its a hyped up pre season nothing more or less folk really need to get to the reality of it and im sure come August 16th????? It will look different again

After the Juve match i was full of optimism and really fancied our chances in this competition considering the bracket we were in & was imagining seriously regaining our league title off the dippers but now i’m the complete opposite, Juve match was a glimpse into the future today was a fearful look back into last season’s past.

Strange one that. Watched it this morning and there were definitely some positives to take such as we clearly are moving the ball forward quicker and the new players who we've signed look really good and will make a difference. We created a tonne of chances and scoring 3 should be enough.

However, how the hell we can concede those types of goals is just utter madness. The one from the corner where one ball from the edge of their own box and he's clean through on goal is just scandalous set up from us. Our high line is just dumb and our overall defensive mindset leaves me puzzled. Pep has a fuck tonne of work to do.

On a positive, we can get a half decent break in now before coming back at the start of August id imagine to set up for the prem.

It's funny how football changes people's opinions.

One week we look like world beaters then next week we are crap and are no where near challenging for the title or anything

People have the right to be annoyed with the result but goodness me

Definitely first world problems. Won’t be flying home early, this annual leave was very hard to come by. I have plenty of ideas what to do, just wasn’t what I was hoping for and doesn’t stop me being disappointed.
I get it blue, and fair play to you for going out there to support the team.

But don't let it spoil your holiday, or even your day. Make the most of the holiday and enjoy yourself.

It won't be the first time City have let you down, and it certainly won't be the last!

Well we’re winning bugger all defending like that, that’s for sure. Hopefully we can fix it by August, but I have my doubts.
He’s far too stubborn, cannot fathom this loyalty bollox to certain player especially when it is fucking us over. I really can’t him changing

In answer to your last question, it looks like not much.
In mitigation he's been coaching for 15 years ultra successfully and while modifying the positional play from time to time he's always played a high line. Busquets and Piquet weren't quick.
The problem is that now everyone is playing on that weakness in our setup.
Peps a Genius and he’s had many iterations of our team, the 100 point season, the flying wingers of sterling and sane, the stones role, cancelo at fullback, four centre backs in the back four, etc but however he solves this problem is on him now he’s seen it all last season, we are all over the shop on counters were too easy to cut through and chances are created with minimal effort and with eddie being eddie those chances nestle in the net.

Nope looks like the usual overreaction as always.
Most of the old guys wont be here when the season starts.
So why are these older guys playing and being picked over those who we intend to move forward with?

If you don't think this result is embarrassing after all the spiel Pep has given about us trying to win this competition you're very much mistaken.

Sort of glad we're out of it. It didn't seem healthy for us going into next season. The guys will get a rest.

We've seen some good football from us tbh, better than last season.
Yes a few games, decent pre season done, new players minutes Rodri minutes, no injuries. Job done now a few weeks rest. Looking forward to the new season. Complete lack of perspective in here typical match thread. No surprise there

Very disappointed this morning both with the starting line up and result.
I do tend to have a PMA so hopefully this is still a bedding in period with so many new players.
I do hope Rodri will be ready for the new season and to see Sir Phil, Marmoush, Cherki start. Also Nico G more often.

14 shots on target, they had 6.
69% possession.
19 corners, they had 4.

We've just bottled the last trophy and kdbs last game, people can call this tournament pointless or tinpot but with this consistency, Ill take what I can fucking get.

Oh well, not what I was hoping (expecting?) to wake up to, but fuck it. Get a bit of a rest and let Pep & the team mull over the tactics. Now to the Haaland thread to see what's the deal with his injury :(

Don’t disagree re rotation but the new signings are barely part of that rotation. Khusanov, Reis, Nico. That’s £100m. Where are they? Are we to believe that they’re being held back for the new PL season or is it more likely that they’ll barely be seen? If it’s the former…great. If it’s the latter…WTF is going on?
I'd say Reis might go out on loan but I think Pep will have him in the squad.
Khusanov is a weird one, he looked ok apart from the slip up against Chelsea but I think he's 1st team ready.
Nico has fell off the chart, pep hasn't used him unless he's carrying an injury.
Only pep knows and we have to trust the manager.
