What started out as a decent first half despite missing several good chances turned in to a disaster second half and extra time...Dias for me is a major worry, gone from being a world class defender his form in the last 10 months has been shockingly bad
Savinho I know he's young and can improve but he really needs to toughen up,shits out of challenges constantly, gives up running for the ball whenever in a foot race, should be third choice at best behind foden, cherki,Bobb.

I'd say Reis is the slowest defender we have.
According to EA Sports FC 2024 Player Ratings:
Dias Pace is 67, Acceleration 65, Sprint Speed 68
Vitor Reiss stats unknown- perhaps Not many games to go on .
Khusanov Pace is 71, Acceleration 62, Sprint Speed 79 . Stats are based on his time in Lens 23/24 . I'd say Sprint Speed higher now.

All on Pep, playing such a high line against extremely fast forwards was kamikaze stuff, watching one ball rip us apart time and again was embarrassing
Also getting caught on the break whilst in front I can understand if we are chasing the game but we wasn't at 1 up. I keep saying pep will learn pep will find a way. But when he does he then drops back into the same old routine slow non mobile players against fast agile players with a high line and attacking fullbacks. Whatever he's cooking for the new season needs a major re think!! IMHO.

We look a million miles away from a team ready to win.

Miss far too many chances and defend like amateurs.

Once teams get us camped out and set in a pass pass pass to nowhere routine then it’s only a matter of time before we clown about when they break.

Whats the solution? Last match we used fb runners into the box with some crisp passing. Once that option is taken away we play around until caught.

Play fast defenders who can go 1 v 1.

Eddie? Delighted he was staying but fuck ne he can’t save a shot. Bono kept his team in it, our didn’t bother.

We have the solution, Cherki but he’s on the bench. 20 assists last season for Lyon and Lyon fans say he plays better against low blocks.

Weird that we thrashed Juventus and most were saying we re beginning to look like the team we were until last autumn, and now most are saying we are beginning to look like the team we were last autumn. Apart from the financial aspect, I for one am pleased the lads will get a decent break before the new season, although I suspect there will be a couple of friendlies arranged before mid August. A lot of squad juggling in the m
eantime, and a leaky north stand roof to fix

All the folk who weren't interested in the tournament when we were winning are all out in numbers now.
Check how many pages this has compared to the Juve one!!
Rest regroup then hit new season on the front foot

Our old men at the back don’t trust themselves in the box anymore due to how slow they are as most attempts at tackles end up as penalty’s and if pep insists on playing a high line with that back four well
We know how it’s going to end up.
Don’t want to knee jerk after last night but
It’s worrying we still don’t have a plan b with low blocks and if pep’s thinking about just out scoring the opposition then he needs to coach out front players into not kicking the ball straight at the keeper.
We could have scored 6 or 7 in this game.
Completely agree.

Our finishing at the other end is every bit as bad as our defensive side of the game.

The game should have been out of sight last night as we continued to miss chances after chance, We all knew what was coming after we missed those chances! We can't be trusted to keep a clean sheet and see the game out, We need to score numerous goals to win a game due to the fact that conceding is a given.

It's absolutely ridiculous that we continue to concede from one ball in behind basically every week! It's schoolboy stuff.

Free £60M in the bin? Where have you made that figure up from?

The maximum the club could of won was £97M and the club had already received £53M just for getting to the round of 16.

Hopefully your profession isn't in accountancy
Ooohh sorry Rainman, fucking pleb.

Really disappointed, and there's no doubt in my mind that I want us not only to be in the next one in four years time but I want us to win it.

Stayed up to watch the match and am suffering now. But a lot of flashbacks to last year. Which after a positive first couple of games worries me a lot.

Disappointed obviously.
We played a very good side who took their opportunities well.
They played well against us in the usual low block but If we had taken our chances we would have been out of sight at half time.
We created more than enough to win this comfortably but a combination of poor finishing and their keeper having a worldie dictated otherwise.
I thought our general play was pretty good but defensively we look a pushover and still so vulnerable to the counter. When Reijnders came off we lost control of the middle and gave them far too many opportunities on the break.
There were definitely some positives and at least we looked dangerous on corners and Rodri got some more useful minutes beginning to look like his old self.
Totally disagree with those who said Doku and Savio were poor. They regularly got behind the lines and created good chances which others failed to convert. Haaland on the other side was well below par.
At least now they get a proper rest and can regroup.
Onwards and upwards.

Gutted we lost but a great game to watch. Even though we must have lost about 20 minutes a half to diving, cheating, injury faking Brazilians. Their footballers are all cnuts
New rules are needed to combat these fake injuries. Maybe if the game is "stopped" for an injury and whether the medics come on or not, that player must leave the field for at least one minute. I'm sure you'll see some miraculous recoveries. It's one part of football that really needs a shake up. If the game isn't stopped then there's no problem. Head injuries maybe treat a bit different, but even then you see players rolling round holding their head when nothing has gone anywhere near their head.
The time attending to these fakers is never added on and maybe if the use of a stop start clock instead of letting the clock run and adding time at the end could change the fakers attitude.
Glad to see the new rule preventing keepers holding on to the ball too long. At last !

Ooohh sorry Rainman, fucking pleb.
Not been called a pleb for years.

Do you know (probably not if you're as good as history as you are with numbers) the word pleb comes from the Roman word Plebeians which The Romans used to name commoners in the capital city.

Anyway after that history lesson on ignore you go

Pep has just continued where he left off last season, one good/decent half and one poor/disastrous one. For me, he is the main culprit the team gets on after HT so unprepared and robot-like after conceding. Both Dias and Akanji had some good recoveries last night as last men, but once Pep pushes them so far forward it's free for all.
When it comes to individual players, my main concern is Gvardiol defending actually, he's been all over the place since Messi turned him inside out at the WC, he seems to have issues with staying focused; and Savi(nh)o, I really don't know where we go from here, the very moment Nunes was subbed he was gone as well in all but the body.
But I can see everybody, including Liverpool and apart form Ars and Brighton, playing some version of "the bus" against us, they did it last season as. It is easier for USA and Israel to bust Iranian nuclear facilities than for us to penetrate 5-5-0/5-4-1.

The midfield was Reijnders - Gundo - Bernardo. If we continue with Gundo and Bernardo then we will have the exact same problems as last season.

They are too slow to stop transitions. The clip of Gundo running back during their attack shows he’s not the Gundo of old and he’s on his last legs.

We have the solution, Cherki but he’s on the bench. 20 assists last season for Lyon and Lyon fans say he plays better against low blocks.
Well the 2 balls he put in ( assist for Foden, and the one right on Marmoush) were world class.

I know players were tired but he finds the space and works well in the pockets.
For the balls in he did t have a great angle but still delivered.

Maybe the plan was to bring him on later when he could exploit the tired legs of the opposition.

But I agree he looks like he has the answer for the low block. Shame he wasn’t on when Haaland was on.

Al Hilal were very good on the break and found lots of room with that Liverpool move of the diagonal ball to the area behind the full backs (or wingers as we call them) but to the side of the box. We created lots of chances which is good and I thought the ball just did not fall for us. However, you are going to win very .very few games conceding 4 goals.

Watched the first half, could see where it was going, went to bed, not in the slightest bit surprised we ended up losing, wanted us to win it, but we've used it as pre-season with all the changes to the team, now they have an extra 2 weeks to fill.
