It really surprises me how people expect the side and performances we saw throughout the entirety of last season to change in the space of a few weeks in a closed season tournament. Especially considering the number of players and coaching changes we've had. This was always going to be a slow burn.

Our performances last season weren't caused by a few players who needed replacing, they were caused by a drastic need for new ideas, drive and enthusiasm in the coaching staff and players alike. Hopefully that will happen as soon as possible, but those expecting instant results obviously don't know how football or other team sports work.

I think we'll have a really good season, likely resulting in us taking back the title, but there will be bumps along the way. The new players we've brought in all look great, but they need to settle in and Pep needs time to get to trust them.

The old guard also need moving out, that will also take some time and effort.

This was never going to be easy.

I ask the question in perplexed honesty.

Would the Chavs, Dips, or Arse lost that game last night?

I am disappointed and sad to see that imo a once great manager is losing it. Stubborn and refusal to innovate and play the right players is costing us.

Maybe correct, but the thinking from Pep has to change to accommodate the changes of personnel if it is to happen. There remain signs that he still favours the old guard who have served the club so well in the past.

That is the thinking which needs to be accepted before we are to move forward..............imo

Would Everton or Spuds or even the rags have lost?

I think you're underestimating the emotional connection with your football team.

Eddy is arsed until he is not arsed, and then he is just gash. I am glad these lads can get a rest as football business is just out to bleed every fucker dry. I hope al hilal win it to piss the yanks off
The camp seemed very relaxed and I think it translated into eddie thinking, behaving like it was pre seaosn. For all we know it coukd have been conveyed that way. He really wasn’t arsed by the looks of it.

As always, would like to win every game we play but at least we get a few weeks rest before the start of the season.

Pep needs to get these players understanding his tactics, or change the tactics to give us a chance to stop the counter.

Glad I stayed up, can rest now ;-)
Real work begins in 6 weeks. Prem is the prime and always will be. This was a distraction we really didn’t need after last seaosn but When were in it I want to win it but there’s a big upside to coming home now.

Pep may think he isn’t the greatest on the ball but his recovery pace would have been our life saver last night, a bit like most of Kyle Walkers City career
That’s exactly it.
The ball over the top wasn’t an issue as Kyle Walker could always get back.

Before that we had Kompany who was the best I’ve ever seen at dealing with the ball over the top as he always seemed to get to the ball first and head it clear.

Like many here, I thought Doku was electric last night.

Where i think i differ is i thought Ruben was far and away our best defender on the night. He made so many blocks and interceptions. Whereas Gvardiol had a bit of a mare.

Our problem was Rayan Ait-Nouri. He was great going forward but nearly every single time they attacked down his side they got some joy. His defending was non existent. Granted Peps instructions and the heat probably played a part. But i thought his defending was woeful.

I think our defense as a system looks poor rather than the individuals.
And i think it's due to the way we play, and therefore the way teams counter.

I'm not a doom merchant btw, It's just my observation based on last night.

There was actually a lot of promise in there.
Reijnders and Cherki both impressed.
Doku looks to have gone up a level.
Nunes still seems to be improving.
Savinho is a strange one though, just not sure what my opinion of him is. Suffice to say that i wouldn't be gutted if, unlikely as it is, we replaced him.

£55m in the bank that we might need.
We can joke all we like, but we weren’t very good.
I was expecting more after the Juventus result, but.
Finishing woeful and defensively inadequate.

I did wonder if a lot was down to how poor Juve were. They caused loads more trouble when Yildiz came on.

At least Akanki will be happy...

Manuel Akanji just before the Club World Cup: “I have been a of this competition for some time now. We players would love to have some holidays, and some time for our bodies to rest.” “My teammates are exactly overjoyed about the tournament either.”

Why is he in such a rush to fuck off on holiday he's just come back from about 3 months injured. I'd give him a 6 month holiday training with the EDS because he's been fucking abysmal every game he's played since we won the treble
