45 | Abdukodir Khusanov - 2025/26

He was poor at home to Brighton in the league and shocking at Bournemouth in the Cup. In fact, his replacement at HT by O'reilly kicked off our best run of the season.

He's a player we signed for the long-term who isn't good enough for us right now.
Again, several of our players were poor and shocking last season yet they still got plenty of minutes, it's not that Khusanov isn't an automatic starter, it's that he hasn't gotten a minute for months for a couple of poor performances that are totally expected from a young new signing, while some of the old guard hardly ever get dropped despite dropping multiple stinkers, there is no way Khus shouldn't get some starts here and there.

One season and we reached the cup final. The season before we became the first team ever to win four in a row. Sniff fucking sniff.
Got to a cup final and bottled it . And yes we won 4 in a row which I would imagine you will still be using in 5 years time when we will sound like United living on past glories . End of day mate if you wanna live on past glories it’s upto you but I want to carry on winning trophy’s and have a new young exciting team .

Because Merlin is 40, whilst Dias is 28, numpty.
Doesn't matter how old you are if you are consistently poor, Dias has been playing like he's bloody 40 for over a year, he's never been the quickest but he now can't win a header to save his life and regularly makes stupid tackles, he shouldn't be an automatic starter.

The rags have reached 4 cup finals in 3 seasons and they are absolute dogshite, reaching cup finals isn't a barometer, you should be judged on what you do week in week out, and we've regressed big time in the last 12 months.

Sure, I would've liked to see him a bit more but we did win all but one game after he stopped being picked.

It isn't five years, it's one, and you don't start bombing the players and manager because of one season where you don't win the league.

Yeah and that game was the cup final when Pep decided to change the back 4 because he wanted to play his boy Akanji.

Yeah, I know you hate Pep, you've made that perfectly clear over the last 6 months.
Yeah I know you're a complete imbecile, you've made that perfectly clear over the last 6 months.

You're right, I'm the imbecile who thinks Pep knows what he's doing, and you're the genius who thinks he doesn't.

I am looking forward to seeing Khusanov in the first-team in the new season. It's exciting to welcome new players to the team and his physicality will be an asset.
Do you think we’ll actually get to see that? Have to think it’s a possibility he’ll be on the loan list

He was beyond shite against Bournemouth. Pep has not really played him since then.
Was he hooked at half time? That was the game O'Reilly made that lovely run forward and assist I think. If I’m right, I think khus lost his man in the box for their goal. I get that he’s made a few mistakes but at 20 he’s not been given the chance some of our other players have and I think he’s played well for the most part.

Edit- just saw another post. It was that game.

If he didnt play a single second from now until next summer, he'd still be going to the world cup as first choice. He's their star

What excuse? Its simply the reality that hes incredibly young and inexperienced that's still developing who was bought with the next decade in mind not the next 6 months. I'm pretty sure a 20 year old nico O'Reilly has just played a significant part in the second half of our season and played in a FA cup final, 20 year old Rico lewis is approaching 100 appearances for us, 21 year old savinho has just had a 30 game debut season with us, 19 year old echeverri who has been here weeks, got an FA cup final appearance. You sure you actually want to claim we dont play young players?
No use if he is getting limited game time. Pep isn't going to bench Dias any for him. Perhaps Akanji but as soon as he was fit enough at the tail end of last season he was picked ahead of Khusanov. He could bide his time and wait for Pep's departure but again he might not want to stick around.

Who said he must start every game ? the problem is he didn't get a fucking minute for months, he looked shaky ? yeah in the first 10 minutes against Chelsea and after that he won a player of the month award playing for a team with no midfield, no one is saying he's world class but it makes no sense that he never ever plays when Dias and Akanji have been poor for some time.
And how many games did we lose during those months? That period was the most consistent we had been all season, didnt we have a 10 game unbeaten run? the defence looked signficiantly better, even borderline solid and we were winning games. You dont upset that rhythm to bed in a 20 year old that had a couple of dozen professional games under his belt into a side where nobody can communicate with him properly and Its madness to suggest it. Assuming Pep was mad and was willing to break up a winning defence he had been searching for all season, who are you suggesting he should have replaced during that period? There was widespread praise for the gvardiol and dias partnership during that period.

He got the same number of starts in this tournament as Ake, Reis, O’Reilly and Lewis got. Dias, akanji and gvardiol got 1 more. Not exactly cast out into the abyss. In his one start, he was booked and so taken off early as all our cautioned players have been and looked erratic in that hour.

You think Khusanov is a better player than two time World XI centre back Ruben Dias?
I would certainly reward him for his impressive performances at the expense of Dias rather than giving him zero mins . Dias then might work to reach his standards of a few seasons ago . He has no pressure for his place , same goes for Akanji , Bernie , Gundo and Haaland .

Having 12 or 13 players always helps
