I actually feel a bit sorry for Vitor Reis he has lost 6 months of first team football because we were so determined to bring him in in January despite palmeirais wanting him for the CWC that we paid extra. Then pep has barely used him and he’s been seen more at the Trafford centre than on the pitch.
If pep wasn’t going to use him then let him stay on loan and continue with Simpson-Pusay.

You would think Khaldoon would at some point have to step in and either tell the DOF to do better with their signings or tell pep you have to use the players we have spent hundreds of millions on!! We can’t continually end up with players pep doesn’t want or use.

I would love a journalist to actually ask pep why don’t you use the players that have been signed. Obviously wouldn’t answer in a million years.

Completely agree with you.
Gonzalez was mini Rodri at one point now he’s nowhere near the squad.
Khusanov was doing well and is probably our fastest defender (god knows we need recovery pace back there) and he can’t get a game.

I’m not saying I know better than Pep as I clearly don’t, it’s just confusing.

On the journalist side, they’re too busy asking bull shit questions about the charges.
 
We all saw how good Khusanov was when he came along, a dodgy 10 minutes against Chelsea, great after that, a dodgy 20 minutes against Real Madrid at right back, had Vini Jnr in his pocket for the rest of the match, the most promising first few games we had seen for ages from a 20 year old, Player of the Month - then when the older CB's were fit again, dropped and we have not seen him since, he is a proper defender and I am fully convinced that if he had played last night, we would not have conceded 4 goals - Dias and Akanji a a shadow of what they were a couple of seasons ago and we need youth - Reis should also be ahead of Dias and Akanji in the pecking order

One of them is coming and the other one is going…and the whole point of a DoF is to remove the coach from the need to scout or find players.

Viana has a ridiculously good record finding inexpensive young talent. We all thought he was part of the January signings and is clearly part of the summer signings, and I’m quite happy with the lot of them, so Pep needs to stop being so fucking stubborn and eat his fucking porridge!
 
Pep hates the youth sadly. Wouldn’t surprise me if Viana ends up loaning out everyone of the younger guys and we end up with basically the same squad.
Huijsen and cubarsi are going to start for Madrid and Barcelona. Leoni is most likely moving to inter and will start there at the age of 18. there are enough cases

I don’t think he says, “they’re not playing,” but rather, “I’m not seeing enough in training to put them ahead of Bill, Jim or Fred!”

The next question is then “Are you slightly blinkered on your views on those three players because of past loyalties, and can we at least give them opportunities to gain the experience needed to mature at this level?”

That answer would be very interesting to hear!

Having read your response - I've altered my view.
As per others (and perhaps yourself) - forget the conversation and make the decisions for Pep.
That's Vianas role - assess the squad and buy/sell accordingly.
Let's ship those we can't rely on any longer, and hopefully that alters Pep's default position
Couldn't be any worse than where we were at points last season.
Interesting that the Summer additions seem to be far more trusted though

I actually feel VERY sorry for Reis - simply because he lost the opportunity to play for Palmeirais in the CWC.
As a club we've wasted 6 months of development for the lad (and before anyone starts he'd learn more playing competative football matches).
As for point 2 - we've just appointed Viana, so if we weren't sure he was going to get the type of player we wanted it'd be odd.
I think we may have dropped the ball with Pep, I'm not convinced he really wanted another 2 years, and a new Dof and manager at the same time would have made more sense
But opinions are like assholes eh
