Pep Guardiola - 2025/26

Wants play a pressing style, but plays Gundo makes no sense Barca got rid of Gundo as Hansi Flick said he wasn't able to do his high pressing style of play as hes too slow on the dfefensive side , So why do we continue to play him?

Could you find the quote? Or you are hallucinating like a chat bot here?

Many said the same about Ferguson circa early to mid 00s when after they won the treble they signed a load of rubbish and spent a fortune on the likes of Veron, Roy Carroll, Taibi, Forlan, Djemba Djemba, Tim Howard, Kleberson, Bellion, Barthez, Pique, Rossi etc..

Fell out with Stam, Beckham and Keane.

The rags went 1 title in 5 years and kept getting their arse handed to them in Europe.

People thought Wenger and Mourinho had eclipsed him.

Then in the latter part of the decade won 4 titles in 5 and reached 3 CL finals, won one.

Point is, you can never write off a man like Pep.
It's ridiculous to write him off. City fans need to be careful what they wish for.

It was by Radio Barca ,but I can't find it. You got me thinking I was hallucinating, but I remember seeing it on one of those Barca aggregators sites. Found it defensive side not mentioned which i thought it was but style of play.

A few weeks ago, Hansi Flick informed Gündogan that he doesn’t see him as an undisputed starter. The coach believes Gündogan does not align well with the style of play he wants to implement and sees Dani Olmo, Fermín, and Gavi as better fits for his system.

Gündogan was a key player under Xavi, Flick reportedly prefers a system that emphasizes high pressing and attacking from advanced positions, potentially leading to a reduced role for Gündogan. This difference in tactical approach is a key factor in the uncertainty surrounding Gündogan's future at the club.

Sick of this bullshit idea that we need to he careful what we wish for. If pep goes. Yeah we may not he as successful. But also we may well be. We have the sheik and khaldoon a fantastic set up. Why do people think once pep goes it ends? Last seasons turgid shit football was terrible and if that continues fans have right to be pissed off. Were not expecting to win everything but since fans are being fleeced with prices they at least want their moneys worth watching some good football.

You might well want him out but I don't and that's my opinion.

After what happened in US, all of us are confused about the team... nobody wants to see another last season's performance, but also noone can dream of another UCL trophy now... not even an FA cup... If not Pep, then who...?

We won titles before pep and we will win titles after pep . Pep will be our greatest and in the history books he will go down and when he retires we can laud him as much as we like and rightly so but it’s the here and now which is important and he is not getting it right and he has app said sorry for not playing John stones at the world club cup which again is astonishing as he should be thinking more about the young kids who are our future .

Maybe he didn't play John because he was thinking about the future

I can only assume Pep thought we would dominate the ball and be able to win it back high up the pitch, and Gundo wouldn't cause us any problems. A lot of our decision making with the ball, general positioning and tackling was abysmal too. There was a lot of ball chasing rather than defending the space and right areas, it wasn't completely down to Gundo even if it's true he doesn't have the energy to perform a high press system.

We've got coaches who have worked with Klippety and they'll see the issues and sort them - or at least advise Pep on what is or isn't working.

We're still a work in progress, but we're better than we were last season so there are positives.

I dont want Pep gone, but i just hope he doesnt consistently continue to pick the players who can no longer get the job done.

The cwc should have been the time go play khusanov, cherki and the others wbo were signed to take us forward.

Instead we just witnessed the issues we already knew were present

I suspect we will never win a major competition with Pep again. But I appreciate all he has won us already.
I definitely think his tactics are outdated. But I think they were groundbreaking and made him the best manager ever.
I suspect he'll be unable to keep a good spirit in the dressing room. But I think this is near impossible if high achievers can't high achieve.
I can't imagine that we will force him to go. But I think there should be serious questions asked internally and we need a quick plan B if he walks.
I could be wrong and he has us motoring again in a proper fashion very soon. But am I ever wrong - I mean really?

I'm sorry but he's done at the top level . Nobody wants to say it out loud but it's true.
I don't know if he's necessarily done but the way he's been moving since the FA Cup final v ManUre is definitely puzzling at best and downright self-sabotaging at worst. To be fair people aren't second guessing Pep. They are questioning his decisions in real time. When we see a shit line up we call it out and the subsequent results bear it out. Pep has always been a brilliant manager but "Pep got it all wrong" has been said more times over the past 14 months than in the whole of his career 'til then...
