9 years ago today: Welcome Pep & a New Badge

Did a thread on it back in 2020 and posted this:

The new badge was revealed in late 2015 and the time feels like it has flown by since then!

Personally I was never a fan of the badge introduced in 1997 and despite it being worn during some iconic moments for the club, it just never felt like the ‘real’ Manchester City badge to me.

This meant I was hugely in favour of a new badge which took inspiration from the round efforts which came before. Despite this, I wasn’t actually hugely impressed by the new badge when I first saw it and felt that I’d seen a few better efforts on here.

Over the last few years it has really grown on me though. Seeing it last year on the 125th anniversary merchandise especially made it look like the ‘proper’ Manchester City badge and truth is, I actually really like it now.

I remember attending a meeting at the Press Centre where we talked about what we would like on a new badge and most people voted to keep the red rose (including me). I still say I am a Lancashire Lass and will do so until my dying day. :-)

That's fair enough to think of oneself as what they were born into, I was too young to pay much attention and by the time I did Manchester was part of the metropolitan Borough of Greater Manchester Our city is too big and important to be in a county that is named after Lancaster and whose capital is bloody Preston.

Plus the rose is red, sodding red:-)

I know I do have a bit of a struggle with that so I bought a Blue Moon Rose bush. Wow oh wow is it a beautiful rose. :-)

Well unless I missed something and those Tykes from the White Rose county have extended their borders into The County Palatine, then it's always been Lancashire.
Since Adam was a boy I believe.
My sister now lives in Uppermill.
Dripping with money,it's Oldham council,GM buses and the owd tykes hate it.
I love it

I'm off there tomorrow ( on the train to Greenfield) , for a walk down the canal for a couple of miles and then back into Oldham on the bus for tea in The Up Steps Inn.
I walk up to dovestones and the tops via Mossley and walk back from Greenfield along the canal to either Mossley or Stalybridge.Been immobile for nearly.2 months though atm with achilles tendonitis.
I miss it so much.

Oh my goodness @blue44 you've brought make memories. I used to do those walk round there regularly but not for the past 10 years. I’ve had some great days out over that direction.
