Pep Guardiola - 2025/26

Dont abuse me its jusy a question:

Did Pep panic? What was wirh the rriple sub e immediately after their equalizer?

Did Gvardiol gwt injured?
They were more or less ready to come on just after half time. I’d say it was planned at HT

What part of his tactics are outdated?

You know, with the stand out teams at the moment being managed by Luis Enrique, Hansi Flick, Arne Slot and Xabi Alonso?
All the best teams throughout the history of football have kept the ball well and won it back quickly.

So “playing the uncs” just boils down to playing Ilkay. Kova is out, Rodri isn’t fit enough. That really just leaves Nico G and the question there is: is he actually better than Gündo?
From what we’ve seen, yes he is better than the current Gundogan. The only reason why I knew that Gundo was on the field was because missed a big chance

Basic schoolboy football instructions. I can't believe that so many people seem to have convinced themselves that Pep Guardiola invented football.
Who's saying Pep invented football. If you look at what i said , I stated that all the best teams pass the ball well because that is what works best. Rather have that than big boot like prime Wimbledon.

It's interesting how impatient some fans can be.

One would think Pep had enough credit in the bank after breaking multiple records in English football, including winning the domestic treble, 4 in a row, the Treble, etc. He did it 12 months ago, not 12 years ago.

Yet here some are: questioning Pep right, left and centre. How people can be so fickle is impressive (or, alternatively, they haven't bought into the "hype" and have always thought he is more about having the best resources than ability?)

Any reasonable person would give Pep all the time in the world to work his magic on the new team he's building. Errors and setbacks are normal. Pep might succeed in the next two seasons or he might not. Given his record and mentality, chances are he will succeed. Nothing is guaranteed but Pep has been the best bet to guarantee success in the last 15 years or so.

This is not to say he's above criticism. I'm pointing out obvious things that some seem to be forgetting.

There's no doubting his genius, but along with Ferguson and Mourinho he has spent shedloads of money getting the players he wants for his system.
Which is normal. And the success has been unprecedented.
What irks me a little is buying expensive players and then not playing them.

I doubt Pep watches many games of every single player we sign. He trusts the process of identifying the right player. Mistakes happen: sometimes the new player doesn't fit.

Pep wanted Zlatan, but then realised that Messi is perfect as a false 9 and ditched Zlatan who was big-headed anyway.

I'd like to see more of Nico G but the problem is likely a bad communication. Nico might be somewhat big-headed too and might have questioned Pep or something.

At the end of the day we dont see what happens on the training pitch where all of these relationships are formed and played out. Pep must be seeing something in Nico that means he ain't getting a game

A different school to me. As a full back my job was to win the ball then lump it upfield to the big lad in the hope that he could do something. Not much in the way of "keeping possession".

How can anyone take someone seriously who uses the term “playing the uncs”?

Not your term I know.

Very similar mate. I was a left back and our schoolboy coaching was to teach me how to lump the ball as far and as quickly as I could. I remember getting a motm badge in one game because on two occasions, my 40 yard hoofs turned out to be 'assists'.

Of course I meant it.

I hope he gets time away to reflect.

As other have commented, we talk and act like a stuffed pig who has had its fill and happy to now dander around reflecting on past glory.

Really need him to kick on with youth and stop alluding to past achievements. The last past achievement was shipping 4 goals to Saudi…

My 'Pep invented football' comment wasn't aimed at you, it was a tongue in cheek reference to some of our more starstruck posters who seem to think he did.

On the subject of the 'big boot upfield', there's nothing wrong with that if a goal is scored, or pressure relieved, as a result. Possession based football tends to be slow and predictable and, in my opinion, frequently very boring.

There's nothing wrong with mixing things up a bit more often than the odd long pass from Ederson.

The art of the traditional centre forward is strangely underrated nowadays, particularly when you consider that much of Erling Haaland's early reputation was on him chasing the big hoof forward to score!

Pep also saw something in training to suggest that Gundogan should’ve started. Didn’t turn out well

We created many chances and could have been 3 up after the 1st half. Not saying that Gundo should have started. Only that it is a bit simplistic to think in such terms.

Whatever Pep is seeing is NOT translating in games. That's a problem. It's called getting it wrong.
