It appears that one trumped the other and we didn't achieve either.
How many times will we fall to the exact same ways to concede goals?
The team needs a defensive overhaul, and Viana must be strong to show the door to some of the players that cannot play the Pep way anymore (they are still decent defenders, but are now square pegs in round holes).
We need recovery speed. That is number 1, 2, and 3 priority.

Yes, recovery speed from midfield and in defence. The way we play, is not possible without it.
 
I've been mega busy all week, hospital appts etc so just had chance today to see the goal highlights.

You will not be surprised when I tell you that I am open mouth aghast at the conceded goals. What the hell was going on with the defence? And as for Ederson - words fail me. I seriously don't agree with the social media abuse he and his family are being subjected to, but dear heavens above that was one shocking goal keeping performance. Why the hell has he started to parry the ball instead of a clean catch?

Tbh I never expect him to save a one on one, but to not save that header for their third? He is not alone in being shambolic, that high line is ridiculous and so unnecessary- it took one good ball from out deep - which we don't seem to be able to do for their quick runner to latch onto, beat our non existent defence and bingo the goal rout begins

I don't know if it's Pep not teaching defending - I mean to him possession is everything, but even some of the mid and lower PL teams are better at it than we are. Annoys me intensely that even when his players are fit he seems reluctant to stick to a settled defence.

After seeing that shitee show, feck knows next season is gonna be a long one.

To say I am still hacked off at this loss is an understatement.

Because they were crap and didn't put any effort into CA us. And when they did, we conceded the second and we' ll probably see many more like that one next season.

Times we could have scored several more as well, conceding a second when having a 4 goal lead is hardly anything to worry about.

Well at least you're already looking forward to the next season, fuck me, talk about entitlement. Greatest football team this country has seen in the past decade and we are being written off for conceding a few goals on a counter attack. Ignore the fact we should have put 4 past them in the first half.
 
The loss was heartbreaking — I was really hoping for a long run in the CWC. But after rewatching it, honestly, we were pretty great for the whole first half. We totally dominated — Al Hilal didn’t pose much of a threat, while we had tons of chances. Few great ones (Dias, Savinho, Bernardo, Gündo), few solid (Doku x2, Gvardiol). Those were 45 minutes of top-tier football, and we were unlucky to go in only 1–0 up.

In the second half, we ran out of steam. Al Hilal have quality players, we made a few mistakes, Ederson didn’t exactly cover himself in glory, and we just didn’t have enough in the tank for extra time.

Too unlucky to be really worried about. Peps been there, making reactions together with the club, changes all over the staff, new players looks promising, Rodri gonna be back and better, Foden cant be worse this season than last one, we should be very strong next season.

The keeper “we need gone”? Would that be the 6 times Premier League and 3 consecutive golden glove winning Ederson? The keeper that had been an integral part of our playing style for about 10 years? Yep let’s talk about him in lovely tones such as “need him gone”. Fucking hell

I actually agree with him, I'm hoping our fanbase recognises players that have helped us achieved what we have and speak about them with the respect their service to the club deserves, not a bag of rubbish that needs taking out

Tbh and no doubt due to being a FOC, I find many of the posts regarding certain players to be dismissive and offensive, with the language being used about their abilities. The comments often having little regard for their contributions to the team performances.
