Tino Livramento

Nunes is fine as back up, it’s Lewis that’s not good enough for us.

I guess with the price of Livramento, is it a price worth paying? That’s always a gamble isn’t it, Grealish was ok for a couple of seasons, but possibly not worth what we paid. Phillips clearly wasn’t worth it. I’d argue though that City should have paid the asking price for van Dijk years ago, he would have been worth it, as would Declan Rice have been. Not paying for them was a mistake, in my opinion. But that’s with hindsight. No-one knows for sure with most players.

So I can understand why the club may be reluctant to spend over £80m on him. But when we spent £53m on Walker that was a bargain. Could Livramento be worth the risk?

Livra isn't in the same class as walker.

He's a steady Eddie no better than Danilo.

Wouldn't be spunking 80m on him at all.

With the scouting network out there surely there are better deals to be done .

I get this homegrown issue and it's certainly having an effect on our thinking.

How can they be wanting £70-£80m for him when they didn't even play him regularly last season. Good player and one I would be happy to sign but not for that amount.
Didn't play him regularly?

He played in every games barring 1 that he was injured for and started 32 games. He played every minute of every game from the end of Feb onwards.

Comparing his league minutes to City players only Gvardial played more.

This was only due to injuries though. Sorry I probably didn't word my original post correctly.

What I meant to say was when all defenders were fit he wasn't first choice as Trippier would play ahead of him and then Hall on the left.

He just isn't worth £70-£80m for me. Not saying he is a bad player, id like him but not at that price.

Again this isn't true. Trippier was on the bench for 17 matches last year out of 31. When they were all fit Livramento was generally the starting right back, he was moved to accommodate injuries as he is versatile where as Hall and Trippier aren't.

The guys who watch him every week rate him really highly. Fancy that.

There’s rating him highly, and being absolutely delusional. (I’ve read some of the comments)

There’s quite a few comedians that go to St Jame’s Park.

As of yet, no right back has cost between £80mill and £100mill, and they never will.

Swap him with Nunes +50m for Newcastle

So people will find another scapegoat for every goal the team concede even when he is not playing

Fans will never forgive him for his mistake in the derby

Why would Newcastle take Nunes? :-/

Fair enough mate, I had not looked into the numbers of it, just my gut feeling from what I remember from the season. I had Livra in my Dream Team and just remember times he didn't play.

Either way, he's not worth £80m

People on here do exactly the same when someone tries to buy a player we don't want to sell. I can remember Sane being valued at around £150m at one point lol.

It's what fans do with their favourite players.

On the flip side, United fans want the club to give their players away on a free, just to get them out of the club. :-)

As you say.

It always amazes me how fans come up with transfer figures.

Nonsense, he was clearly the first choice right back. Trippier only got in the team when Hall got injured and Livramento moved over to the left side to cover for Hall.

You always use that point of us not going in when they’ve moved clubs previously and it’s utter nonsense.

Wed just won a treble and had a prime Kyle Walker and a young Rico Lewis coming through so why would we have gone in for him? Walkers gone and Lewis hasn’t got a defensive bone in his body so now we NEED a right back.

Nunes is a failed midfielder now posing as a right back so I don’t know how you come to the conclusion he’s now suddenly better at playing right back than someone who’s played there all their life.
If he was that talented he would have been signed directly from Southampton. He is a lot more than we paid for Walker who was near enough the finished article.

We wouldn't though, as I already explained we already had Walker close to his prime and at the time a decent younger prospect in Lewis. No way would he have dropped £40m+ on a right back at that time.

I'll say it again... your point is redundant and utter garbage.

Far from if. He isn't as good as a prime Kyle Walker for starters. We can do a lot better than Livarmento and besides that Newcatle aren't going to sell him directly to a rival unless we pay big money. Plenty are despearately wanting Nunes replaced despite finishing the season strong.
