The team is in serious need of a centre back.

We may be stacked in that department but consideration needs to taken into account that Ake and Stones are out injured the majority of the time, Ruben Dias has looked like Titus Bramble for two years and Akanji has fallen off a cliff.

Serious lack of pace, physicality and leadership at the back. Surely Khusanov needs to be given alot more gametime as he has at least two out of three of those attributes.

The Dipper have Van Dijk and Konate, Although Van Dijk is 33 he's still playing really good stuff. Both are big physical lads with pace and solid defensively with 1 v 1 duels. You could say the same for Arsenal with Saliba and Gabriel.

We aren't near that.

Not sure whether to laugh or cry and Dias being compared to Bramble....because it's absolutely true

It’s tricky, I’d have him he’ll give us more gas. But then I’d be letting go of Gaviscon.

I agree but we’d have to see about selling stones, Ake and Akanji before we thought about buying another imo

I think you are misunderstanding the problem. Its not that we don't have enough homegrown ( a different problem), its that we have too many foreign players.

Agreed.

We have to move centre backs on if we are to bring in another centre back.

The squad need refreshing especially in the centre back area, Don't get me wrong Stones has been absolutely fabulous for us he's been an incredible servant and the same goes for Ake, Unfortunately they aren't reliable to stay fit.

On top of all that it's massively important to have a commanding centre back and personally I dont think we have one.
 
Need to trust the club. Maybe they know who is leaving and where we will end up short. Every summer we ain’t gonna find a silva, kun, kdb type player. They are hailed as footballs best for a reason.

Clear the deck and let’s see how we are come kick off.
 
MGW will really need to push for this (Nunes style) in my opinion to get this across the line this summer.
Likely his only World Cup and Euro opportunities for him over the next three summers.
He hasn't sniffed the England XI while being a standout at Forest.

He knows he needs to make this jump to meet the highs he wants to achieve, it will now just come down to how hard he is willing to fight...because Marinakas is certainly not going to hand him over willingly now that they have European football this upcoming season.

If we really want him, and he makes it uncomfortable enough for Forest...I could see a figure of 60 with 5 in addons getting this across the line.

He probably wouldn't want crazy wages like Grealish got either, so that would certainly help.

We were not miles off it in 2025, in fact everyone, including your team were off us. If you look at City's form vs time, you'll see an anomaly in Nov, Dec that correlates strongly with Rodri and Kovacic's injuries.

I think so. That's our weakness. Akanji, Ake, Stones aren't reliable. Khusanov and Reis don't get given a chance. Dias looks like he's fallen off in the last 12 months.

As it is if we include Phillips we also currently have too many homegrown. Until we know who is leaving and the club might we sre in no position to add to any list

Khusanov and Reis are very young and need time. Dias hasn't fallen off any cliff. What you see is a City side missing Stones, Rodri and Kovacic (at the CWC). I think we need to strengthen the spine of the side because I think the recovery of Rodri and Stones in particular is problematic.

I agree on Khusanov and Reis, but one of those will most likely be loaned out this season. Can you really depend on Stones and Ake to stay fit for us this season? Can you depend on Dias and Akanji in a high line? Not sure. We definitely need a top quality CB.

Whether we get one this season, who knows but Guehi is right there. Much better option than Akanji/Stones/Ake at the moment.

If we are bringing him in at 60-70m and shipping Gundo and Kova out, I love it.

also would allow us some flexibility at the RB spot and we could get a non HG RB.
