Grealish left out of the CWC squad (pg34)

She's athletically and biologically incorrect that a player past their peak can and will get faster or better, so it wasn't worth the response.

One can maintain their 'peak' level (anybody know when that was for him?) unless anyone else can inform me of a footballer that got even better after their 'prime' had passed...

Pirlo perhaps? Or as an outside chance Bojinov? He got better and better with every game he didn't play

Pirlo was never quicker, biologically. He reinvented his game to get the best out of economic movement.

Not sure Bojinov was out of his prime cos of his injury. He was young enough when he came to us, shone some after injury and faded again.

I'm not sure that qualifies...

Wait... "with every game he didn't play"...?

two much maligned players in sterling and mahrez produced much more than grealish ever did for city.

Yet grealish has far more fans who will not have a bad word said against him. Don’t really get it
I'd definitely say sterling and marhez did more for City but grealish has done a top job as well let's just appreciate all three. But should grealish be given the shit fans are giving him, not a chance.

Grealish is far more relatable to your average fan. Acts & talks like one, which goes for him & against him depending what he’s done!

Sterling you always had the feeling it was more just a job. He’d come, do what needed to be done and then leave again, which is fine but he’s not the type of player who has that connection with the fans of the club he’s at.

Tony Book

An exception to rule as to what I read, but there's no data to say he was 'quicker' than before he joined us, just had a more complete exceptional game.

But, I guess that might be one in almost 50 years, which explains the general point of improvement after your prime.
Benzema, there are others, no less than our very own Fernie, who improved as players after the supposed peak years of a footballer but no, I very much doubt anybody gets faster, but athletically doesn't just mean faster, a lot of players may have got fitter, better stamina, more running, more effective etc

Besides all of that, Tony Book was meant as a humorous reply, but hey ho.

What is it about the posters today, taking things out of context? It was sarcasm!

You know, cos Guardiola's not playing him and it doesn't bother me that he's not!!
Ah, missed it entirely, now that's what comes of reacting too fast to a poster after past disagreements about other stuff.

there was deffo a feel after the treble win that he has completed football this is it, rather than go again, try to top it, repeat it, and off field issues, lesser and lesser minutes, assists, goals dried up more and more and people had to focus on things like he is world class in winning free kicks and stuff which I find stupid as who is really the best freekick winner in Serie A, La Liga, Bundesliga, nobody keeps track of this really..., and now pretty much frozen out by Pep as a way to motivate his agent to actively look for an option for him. based on very little minutes in the league last 5 games and cup final, and CWC snub while only other player snubbed was Walker who is already out the door, the only way Grealish remains part of the squad if completely struggle to get even bad loan offers like those Italian ones with no must buy clause and us paying his salary...
I really dont see a way back for him, and with his salary a bench option aint working imo. its already bit uncomfortable for him imo that he is taking home more than Rodri each week. one won the ballon door other is trying to stay sober...
everbody loves him as he is a nice character, fun person etc, but I am sure Sergio Gomez was a real nice guy too but wouldnt want him around either. I struggle to see at what level of club will take a risk on him and if he even can be back to his best. he certainly needs confidence which will only come by being a regular starter at a club like with 30+ league starts unless lots of injuries because nobody looking at him thinking let us pay his brutal salary and keep him on the bench.

Honestly believe a move back to villa would be the best thing for him,it would be the perfect club for him to re set and go again with....I think the break in at his house has hit deeper than we are lead to believe and not handled it at all well....tinges of gasgoine about him with wanting the arm round him and reassurance everyday ,talented guy on his day just needs to believe in himself and hope it works out for him on the next footballing chapter in his short career

There's a massive problem with that. Villa wouldn't want him back. He doesn't even get into their side imo but regardless, villa are constantly dodging PSR every year even using their get out of jail free card in selling the womens team this year and its all because of their incredibly high wage bill to revenue ratio leaving them with practically nothing to work with each year.

So the absolute last thing they can afford to do is sign a guy who is supposedly on about 300k a week and would become their biggest earner even if he took a large hit on his current wages.
