33 | Nico O'Reilly - 2025/26

Could play 20+ games across all comps backing up Aït-Nouri as an attacking left-back. If he's happy with that role (and maybe a few outings in midfield in domestic cup games) that would be great. If he really wants to be playing every week in his preferred position, he might need to think a bit more deeply about his options for this season
 
Hope he stays and gets regular minutes. He, along with a couple of others, rejuvenated our season in January and dragged us through a rocky patch offering something different and a bit of reliability.

I hope he gets the chance to be the alternate option to Ait-Nouri instead of that being Gvardiol and NOR being third-choice and scrambling around for game time.

Would love to see him get some minutes in midfield too.
 
Nico has got to be patient and make the most of the minutes he gets whether he's covering for Ait Nouri or playing in midfield. He's a good squad player who's quite versatile and If he carries on progressing he may become a regular in midfield, especially after next season if Gundo becomes a coach and if Bernardo leaves.
 
He just turned 20, and only just got integrated near the end of last season.

I would be surprised, if he expected to be a nailed on starter playing 3500+ mins, I highly doubt he is demanding that.

I'd be he'd be happy simply being a solid squad player for the season, but not starting 11.

Get him say 1500-2000 mins across LB or CM position.
 
I agree, @WallyA . He is a young player learning his trade. Cup games and substitute appearances soon add up, with gradually increasing spells in the team. If we are 3-0 up with half an hour to go, introducing Nico for one of the key players is the right call. Feyenoord is not likely to be repeated with the squad we have now.
 
I've mentioned this before, but I feel like if we are resting Haaland, O Reilly is a far better rotation option than Marmoush.

We can retain the target man play style, and not have to adapt to a whole new way.

When we started crossing to Marmoush as the f9 I was like "what are we doing? Don't they realize Haaland is off".

O Reilly has experience as a ST, let him do it, he is fucking built for it far more than Marmoush.

He has 3 years left on his contract if he is happy to stick around for only cups occasional of the bench in games we will keep him and then see in a year or two!

I think he’s better than just cup games to be fair. He’s shown it. I think that would be a backwards step.

I’d start him in rotation at left back in quite a few games

I’m not saying he should drop anyone or that Oreily should start every game. He could rotate the team though and start him at left back when needed. Maybe for cup games in midfield.

After last season and how well he did, do you not think it would be a backwards step to only start cup games and occasionally come off the bench?
 
he got lots of opportunities last season took his chance could this be agent talk to get a better deal thought he was about to sign a new deal with city
