It's Quiet the £250m return

Viana works for Soriano and reports to him. the squad needs to be refreshed and its a big work as not only this season is very important but the next and the next after that. squad planning is huge task, you need to be able to see ahead 2-3 years. if Txiki did his job properly after the treble we would have had the squad in much better shape than it is.Viana left with cleaning up the mess sadly its at a time when rivals keep spending big and seemingly well while we deteriorated from the highs we were.

I am on board if some uncles need to be taken away from Pep even if he wants to keep them. we need a good mix of youth and experience, but too many over the hill players or just the ones that are past their prime (Ederson, Bernardo, Stones, Ake) we need to be careful.

have a feeling if there isnt a change from Txiki to Hugo maybe we renew with Walker and KDB both which I doubt would have benefited us either short or long term.
This take away the older players from Pep really is internet chat nonsense. Pep has never said he wants to keep, Walker, KDB, Gundogan or anyone else for next season, in fact he’s said he can’t have players no matter how good if they are unreliable and can’t play every 3 days,it’s just because last summer he, wrongly, thought he could get another year out of them and ended up having no choice but to play them.
Whether they leave or don’t if Pep thinks we are better without them he won’t play them.Do people think anyone that has won so much is that stubborn or stupid to play a weakened team out of some misplaced loyalty.

That's exactly what Pep said, when the board all got pissed in the Chairman's Lounge and sorted out in front of the public.

I know this has probably been asked a million times before so apologies for the boring post, but how many non HG/Foreign players do we actually have to get rid of currently as it stands? I know the squad rules are different for Europe and Domestic competition too so what we dealing with currently ?

4 either sold or loaned for CL none for aPL but think it’s extremeely unlikely w have different squads to I expect 4 out loaned or sold.

Forest are apparently pissed at Tottenham and are offering Gibbs White to others I wonder if we go back in for him if the price is good. They are adamant he is not going to Tottenham after what they’ve done.

Why did he continue with Gundo at the CWC

Pep clearly has favourites. Akanji, Gundogan, Bernardo and Kovacic for starters. All of these should have been moved on at the end of the season.
He picks the players he trusts the most. Always has and probably always will, especially in central midfield.

What Pep hasn’t really encountered in his managerial career before is him losing that trust in the players as he’s always moved on after a few years.

If they get Isaac and Rodrygo, after Wirtz then they will have improved immensely a team that were streets ahead of us last season. We’re signing players that i’m not even sure Pep wants to play
They finished on 84 points. Hardly a great side. They won the League because Rodri was injured and KDB and Walker had grown old. And even then we were better than them through 2025.

Which players do you think City have signed that Pep doesn't want to play?

I think you should worry about next season a bit more. We are incomplete and the space to change is not opening up.

All empires collapse suddenly. Just look at Ferguson. The Liverpool of Dalgliesh.

This is a hugely critical moment. Although I'd say we're advantaged by the fact that we are in an era of the super elite, like in every other walk if life. So just like in Spain it will be difficult to dislodge us permanently.

People on about why Gundogan was being played. Simple for me he's in the shop window. Did he score 2 goals at the club world cup I'm almost certain he did. We do need to sell some of the players. We took a risk leaving Grealish back home hoping he would get a move and has yet to happen. We were always going to bring Gundogan to it personally think he did ok out there. Yeah as I say these lads are out on holidays no doubt the agents are working hard to get them a move somewhere and with a World Cup upcoming those guys need to play if they want to go to a World Cup give it time.

Whey are they all doing interviews saying they are staying/ want to stay. Gundo, Bernardo, Stones and so on

Nico, Khusanov in the recent window albeit he may just want to bed them in a bit but clearly he doesn’t think they are ready yet but that may change. Phillips, Nunes (before Walker walked out) clearly aren’t rated by Pep. Gomez another.

Why did he continue with Gundo at the CWC
Because he wanted to, he gave everyone games as the new coaching team got a look at everyone. Probably always knew he was the most likely to leave. The CWC was what it was we saw what worked and what didn’t so did Pep, the coaches and Viana anything else is overthinking it.

They also want Mcatee so could benefit both of us.

How is it nonsense ? We all have eyes. He played the old guard even after the January window. Gundo Kova Bernardo played 33 matches EACH in the PL.

Pep’s comments about only wanting players that can play everyday was in relation to extremely injury prone players mainly Stones.

I have an issue with his preference of players when I see him change systems in favour of his players like in the FA Cup final. Playing an aging Akanji who recently got surgery at RB instead of Nunes who’s been working the whole time. Or playing Gundo AND Bernardo in the same midfield against Al Hilal and only bring on Foden and Cherki in extra time.

To say if he thinks they’re not good enough then he won’t play him when there’s a mountain of evidence to suggest otherwise.

It’s not to say I’m smarter or the trophies he won were by luck. The decisions he’s made in the last 1.5 seasons have been questionable. We still have no idea what level Khusonov, Reis, Nico G are at despite having the perfect opportunity to see them. We know what Dias, Gundo Bernardo can do.

That’s why the only solution is to take it out of his hands because as last season as shown even if we win 1 game in 14 he will not budge and keep playing the old guard. Did they get second win and helped us get top 4 yes they did and I applaud them for that. But he’s still relying on players who are past their best. Thats concerning.

In today's news: Manager Picks The Team Shocker!

Guess what, lads: we possibly have the greatest manager in the history of the game managing us, and we are the first team to win four consecutive titles, score 100 goals, win all four domestic trophies, and the treble. If Pep didn't have some loyalty to the players who have delivered so much, he wouldn't be human.

Now, we look forward to the season ahead with a whole host of new, exciting talent, and there's a month and a half left of a transfer window that is not yet three weeks old. ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?
