It's Quiet the £250m return

I don't get people worrying about Liverpool. Over the full season yes they were better than us, but we fell off a cliff for about a quarter of the season. They're good obviously, but some champions are special and they aren't that.

Will they get there with purchases? Maybe. Maybe not. I'm always happy when I see rivals who are already good making changes, because not all changes work. I think they'll be a lot worse off for Alexander-Arnold going (regardless of his defensive frailties). Salah is another season older and they won't be able to play him game in game out. Where Wirtz fits in will be another question and if they buy Isak, so what? He's good obviously, but he's an expensive replacement for Jota, who knew their system and how they played. No guarantee a striker won't take time to settle.

Akanji is the kind of player that feels like he should have a high market value, but when you think about it he probably doesn't.

His book value to us now is minimal, he's not good enough to start for a top side but too good to sit on the bench for one. His level is probably as a starter for a side just below the top teams in Europe - but they're not going to pay his wages and a decent transfer fee.

Galatasaray can offer the wages and are probably just about of a high enough level for someone like Akanji to be tempted - but the fee would be around what we paid for him, if not a bit less.

he will surely have zero balance on the books now?

We had a better 2025? Since the start of the year we had the following embarrassing games: Arsenal, Liverpool, Madrid x2, PSG, Brentford, Brighton, Southampton, Palace, United, and Al Hilal. We can also add all of our wins where we played ping pong with our opposition giving up 10+ shots each game.

If Liverpool (who took the CL winners to penalties) are hardly a great side, then what does that make this City side?
PSG basically used in us in January too. We had a two goal lead. Shortly thereafter, they beat the shit out of us.

I can't imagine Galatasaray having the finances to accommodate all three's wages

They are selling their training ground for 600 million euros according to reports in Turkey and had a big increase in sponsorship deals. They want to widen the gap in the league.

They can apparently give Osimhen the wages he wants and that’s about 400k euros a week.

Edit - training ground sale will come to 900 million euros. According to Gala Journalist if it goes through

Akanji going is good. Khusanov now takes the 3rd option and/or competes with ake and if Stones doesn't get moved can now be a luxury 5th option. Or possibly if it works out, Reis is that man.
