So sad, so many blue shirted hero’s have passed away since my 1st game at Maine Road in 1957.

I’m now 72 and friends and relative are falling like flies.

Rest In Peace Wyn.

My first game had been 1-1 v Chelsea the previous April, but my first every City victory was 4-0 v Ipswich (December 11th 1971)

The four goal scorers Bell, Lee, Davies and Mellor are no longer with us.

Good example of his contribution here - an assist (I think - commentator says it is Bell with the knock down but I think it is classic Davies with Bell coming in behind him) a tackle setting up Bell's goal and a scruffy goal.

and classic Davies Lee combination here - imagine the West Ham defender hitting the referee like that today!

Sad news. I suppose a modern parallel is the effect that Negredo had for a season not just for Sergio but the whole team.

I have family in Caernarfon and they were friends with the Davies family. Wyn was a good man.

I was only a kid but was excited when he joined us, as someone i knew was playing for us. Me and my cousins got City tops and pictures signed by him, it was great.

I wasn't very happy when he left, to go to them of all places & i told him so, numerous times, over the years :-)

My lasting memory is picturing him absolutely soaring towards a floated cross from Willie Donachie from the new North Stand before they seated it. A spectacular and unique sight. Rip Wyn.

Yes, about 6'1/2" iirc. Which was very tall for those days. And a very elegant player.

One side of my parental ancestry comprised a tall family, which unfortunately I inherited. Hated as a kid, love it now - can always see at gigs/ stood up events!!
I met Franny Lee (lovely guy, had time for me and my friend) when we were about 14 and I was already taller than Franny by about 2"!! ( I didn't grow much more after that). I'm an foc female BTW.

71/72 was my first full season (7 years old) so Wyn was one of my 'originals'.
