Tbh I don't think he is going. I suspect twitter bullshit built upon hot air until everyone thinks it is happening. Heard this one so many times.

Changing the most important positing on the pitch at this late stage will fuck us over. The club know that. If he has asked to leave nothing we can do though.

I don't care how good of a season he has had at Burnley, he played in an inferior league under a manager that went defence first so was well protected.

Under Kompany in the PL in a system that was similar to ours, he looked well out of his depth. So much so he got dropped for Muric.

I am all for HG, but they have to be good enough. You cannot mess up a position like GK. That position takes no prisoners.

Nailed it. Pretty much my exact thoughts.

I couldnt give a shiney shite that he's academy trained, he's not of the required standard for a team with CL and PL aspirations.

You're correct in all that, but he was 21 at the time and thrown into a side that was suicidal. Hart and Kasper Schmeichel looked out of their depth when they initially played for us, with some good performances and some dodgy ones.

Not seen much of Trafford last season to comment on whether he's improved, but a single bad season at the age he was doesn't say anything about his potential. I'd prefer we kept Ederson for another season with Trafford as a back up, even if we think he's the right option, as getting the No1 wrong, especially without a good No2 is a big issue - see Mr Bravo for a recent example

Wasn’t he 20? It’s a bit harsh to judge him on that season, for a terrible side. He can’t think of many top keepers playing in the league regularly at that age.

He’s being linked because of his potential to be a top keeper. Something our club saw when he was in the academy

Yep. If Trafford was willing to come as a backup/cup keeper, then I'd be all for it. But people seem to have forgotten at times how we have been one of the best teams in football history in the last few years, so when we sign a goalkeeper, we are only interested in the very best in the world, not in bringing someone in because they meet the homegrown criteria. If someone is both then great, but James Trafford isn't close to that. But he is good enough that he's unlikely to come to City to be a backup when his career development is going so well. Second season as a first choice goalkeeper for a PL club is outstanding for a 22 year-old.
 
sam lee on his podcast says when the rumours come out around ederson someone told him city are in the market for a top goalkeeper
