Will we win the league this season?

We will find out soon enough, I suppose.
That depends on whether Pep has confidence in City's defence. Look what happened v Al Hilal. We had 3 significant defensive players in rehab in Stones, Rodri and Kovacic. I don't Pep cam open up until City have a solid defence. Gvardiol and DIas get exposed for pace when there is no defensive midfield and City bomb forward.

I don't think City will play high risk football until we are confident again in our defence. We all know this is City's weakness. Everyone sees City as vulnerable now. Pep too.

We should change the heading to “Will we finish in the top 4”?
This will possibly happen as the season progresses.Personally I still hope we can mount a serious challenge.
Interestingly 4 of our first five fixtures are ones we lost last season so we need to be careful it is not over before it starts. The fixture against Arsenal in September in particular is an early indicator of how serious our challenge is likely to be. You don't win the league in the opening weeks or months but you can leave yourself a difficult hill to climb. This is the first season in many years that there are far more questions than answers as the kick off approaches. Expect fireworks.

I personally would like to see us go all out for the CL.

We've given ourselves breathing space with the league with the amount we have won over under Pep, but that CL has been elusive on a number of occasions.

I don't think there has been a weaker Europe in terms of quality. Only PSG standout and even Chelsea made them look mid-table the other day.

I think if you offered Pep 1 CL now or 5 more titles, he is taking the CL.

Seriously? 5 Pl or 1 CL ?

I think Pep, not me, Pep, would take the CL.

Clubs are judged on CL heritage nowadays globally.

We will always be in the mix for a PL title whilst Mansour is here, but CL titles don't come around as easily and I think Europe is on its arse for quality at the moment. We can win that trophy with Pep and our current team.

We can’t, mate.

Soon as we draw anyone slightly good it’s gona be over.
Just get ready for a top 4 battle and an early CL exit in the knock out stages. (Which is fine).

We used to have 6/7 world class players in our 11. Maybe more.
Now we have 2 at most. One of them we don’t really play to his strengths and the other might not be the player he once was now he’s 30 with a serious injury under his belt.

We just gave good players but so do loads of other teams.

I think we’ll be closer than last year and might win it might not and until the window is shut and we see how the team with lots of new faces gels it’s impossible to know. I expect an inconsistent start and a new year charge.,pushing Liverpool, don’t think Arsenal will be top 2.
What I do see though is those writing us off and predicting a fight top 4 as we are miles behind arsenal and liverpool , are many of the same posters that wrote us off in previous years when we were winning leagues and cups so thats quite encouraging.

Liverpool are absolutely killing it in the transfer market with the coutinho money. Has me concerned.

I hate to admit it but we’ve been shopping in Farm Foods and dippers have been to Waitrose. Still at least we have a left back now.

With Rodri back and fully available we have a great chance, the biggest weakness for me is defensively, I think we need a new experienced centre back. Relying on two kids Khusanov and Reis along with the injury prone Ake, Stones and Akanji just doesn't work for me, we will be very open at the back.

We also need to replace Nunes and Doku, this can't all happen in one window though so I'm pretty relaxed about next season.

Let's get those charges gone and try our best.

As most people know Betfair are not conventional bookmakers as such. But for all the defeatist talk I witness on here, the general betting public don't agree with the dipper wankathon that is currently ensuing in our midst. You can still get nearly 2 1/2 - 1 on the turds and City and Arse are just behind in price. This equates to about a 31% chance ffs :-) Yet the usual knicker wetters are distraught.Screenshot 2025-07-17 195341.jpg

On the assumption that the table describes betting odds, I have converted them to probabilities:

2.5 to 1 ~ 28.5%
3.2 to 1 ~ 23.8%
4.3 to 1 - 18.9%

Those numbers are not similar.

You have to knock a decimal priced odd down by 1 mate so a 3.3 becomes (2.3) which means is 30.3% chance. The City price of 4.5 becomes (3.5) which is 22.2% chance and for what it's worth Arse are 3.5 becomes (2.5) and a 28.5%. Chelsea becomes (8.4) 10.6% chance and Geordies have 3% chance. And according to the world wide gambling/bookeeping communities the rags have no fucking chance :-)

Thanks. I didn't know about decimal odds.

Considering the atomic bomb that hit our squad last season and we still finished 3rd. Hopefully lightening won't strike twice. I think we are assembling another top squad with the greatest manager ever. Liverpool are not the team the media make out, they scraped through upteen games last season and really didn't convince me. Even then liverpools total points was mediocre. If the dippers were world beaters they would have added one of the cups but they were miles away.
I think we will be back in business next season, just need a tasty right back.

We need a proper right back that has pace and if we can nullify the counter attack and convert more of our goal scoring opportunities I think we will give Liverpool a run for their money. Come on City!
