It’s possible but IMO that would be a disaster. Ortega played enough games last season for us to get a much truer picture of what life would be like with him as number 1 and I don’t think many of us liked what we saw.

If Eddie does go and Trafford comes in as number 1, we will also need to go into the market for a number 2, because there is no way Ortega accepts that situation.

I get your point mate, but this is the same data that has seen us spend £550m since the treble and we are going into the new season third favourites.

It takes time for a young goalkeeper to settle in. If this move materialises, I'd rather see Trafford come in as number two keeper to either Ederson or Ortega, with a view to getting 25/30 games in his first season, before taking over (all being well) the next season.

I didn't necessarily identify Trafford as the immediate successor. I said Ederson leaving on its own is not the end of the world for us. Speaking without any blue tint on my lenses Costa could step into this team with ease...
