Palestine Action

As ex job-these officers are talking shite.

I would say there is some editing in the video so some context may be missing.

It also evidences how difficult it is to get officers trained correctly with changing legislation-its typically done over the force intranet with a power point presentation with some mutli guess questions. (covid was a nightmare becuase the rules/law was changing alomst every day so it was impossible).

But taken at face value they are talking nonsense and the legislation was not passed to prevent peacefully protesting against the israeli govt's genocide.
I guess you meant "as an ex-cop" but thanks for confirming the massive over-reach.

Sorry of course-I’m stating my opinion though-5 years out later this year and whilst I have friends very high up in police forces I don’t have to agree with them or have knowledge of the political pressure they are under.

But I’d imagine plenty of legal challenges against this recent prescription of PA and lumping other people in.

I expect that of all those arrested most are at home today awaiting a letter confirming NFA to be taken. It will be very hard to get the others to court and like as not the only people who will be punished will be the paint sprayers

They are not going to stop, Every week there'll be Palestinian Action folk defying the ban. As @Brewster's millions said just keep taking the police from robberies, riots, street crime etc etc. This is the most important thing which is currently a danger to our country

I would expect the large majority of those arrested to be prosecuted, and eventually when all the bored middle class types who want to get their photograph in The Guardian actually do get their photograph in The Guardian, they’ll stop doing it.

No doubt it will continue for a while, but fortunately there’s only so many of these clowns in the country.

a bit like those pillocks in Epping? Although PA protesters don't attack the Police and Police vehicles.

Then you'd be supporting clogging up the courts which are already taking years to hear cases. Daft.

The clowns are:
The MPs who blindly voted for Blair’s and Straw’s draconian legislation.
The Gov for proscribing Palestine Action
The police who are interpreting that proscription in an oppressive way
AND Members of the public who spout off while unaware that Palestine Action is not a hierarchical organisation but a collection of individuals wanting to protest the supply of arms to the IDF.
Some members stupidly damaged RAF kit while most concentrated on the arms protest. That you cannot ascribe the actions of some members to all of them in such a loose grouping will be an important point of switched on lawyers in defence of any anti terrorist charges.
I would not describe people who object to this country supplying arms to a force determined to kill thousands of Palestinians including women and children as ‘clowns.’

Brewster isn't bothered about that. As he's said numerous times arresting folk who hold these signs up should be a priority of arrest before Burglars, Street Robberies, people commiting assault.

You appear to be ignoring the pertinent issue here, which is the fact that those being arrested can continue to demonstrate about what’s happening in Gaza, at virtually any time and place and in any numbers they choose to.

Instead they choose spend their Saturday afternoons holding a placard up, with the ubiquitous smug look on their face, supporting a group which was quite rightly proscribed as terrorist organisation. By doing so they willingly and knowingly associate themselves with people using threats and violence to influence government policy; the true definition of terrorism. And all entirely needlessly.

That’s why they’re being arrested, and so I’m afraid your point about not being able to ascribe the actions of some members to all is frankly bollocks, because they’re choosing to associate themselves with people engaging in terrorism.

That’s also why it’s more than fair to describe these people as clowns. Bored middle class types from the Muswell Hill Revolutionary Front, thinking they’re above the law and that they can do whatever they like. Fortunately they can’t and that’s why they should be prosecuted.

If you follow the ‘logic’ of @Vic (has anyone ever said that on here before?), crimes like burglary and street robberies wouldn’t be prosecuted anyway, because we can’t clog up the courts, and so there’s no point in arresting people for it.

As such, there isn’t an opportunity cost in having the police dealing with this Palestine Action mob.

You should read the anti terrorism acts; none of what you say about the right to demonstrate is true if demos in favour of Gaza are interpreted in the way that’s currently happening. You also appear to believe in guilt by association and you would make a lousy lawyer if you don’t recognise the difference between a voluntary group and a hierarchical organisation that promulgates its policy and directs its members. My point is such a load of bollocks that it will be cited as a ground for suspension of the order in the upcoming trial.
What threats were the demonstrators opposite the court issuing?
Do you really think that shouting a slogan ought to risk 14 years in jail in a democracy?

Summed up perfectly.

Like a true authoritarian!

Or someone that understands and abides by UK law.

Take your pick and if you feel so strongly about it, go and demonstrate yourself and get yourself arrested just like these attention seeking idiots are.

It’s been said, they can take to the streets in their millions for all I and the law cares, they just can’t play silly buggers with the messaging on their placards.

What’s actually important here to them? Palestinians and their plight or being edgy and making it all about a handful of idiots?

You are making a lot of assumptions there.
There is much illogicality in your belief that people are free to demonstrate and your statement “go and demonstrate yourself and get yourself arrested”…
which is true?

Like having a placard say "Stop the Israeli killings!" and then having a swastika next to it. The message itself isn't the problem, the hate symbol is. And until the group Palestine Action ceases all known support of Hamas, a proscribed terror organisation, any reference to it during protests will be treated as an offence.

Continuing to do so, knowing this, is next level stupidity.
