It's Quiet the £250m return

Dias will be much better playing consistently alongside Josko next season. Will also help that Ait Nouri is a physical specimen too. Once the three of them have a bit more chemistry and the midfield in front of them is functioning properly, we'll go back to being one of the best defensive sides in the country.

Worth remembering that last season we conceded 44 goals, and the title winners conceded 41. There's a much smaller road to travel to get back to our best than a lot of people realise.
shush you, dont let sense and reason stop people from whining incessantly, you'll take away their purpose

We are DEFINITELY the worst when it comes to RB and GK, from what I seen online we wanted Cambiaso and Livramento (links have gone quiet) and Ederson doesn’t want to go Saudi anymore said he wants to stay (which isn’t a good thing). Also no bids for Grealish is a big worry too, he’s on very high wages and isn’t even picked in the matchday squad sometimes. He really needs to leave so we can get a top quality winger which will help big time. Defensively we were shocking last season (compared to our standards) our midfield looks back to its best but that’s it really.
I’m not disagreeing re the RB and GK point you have mentioned I can see how some people find that a valid argument ( personally I still like and rate Ederson)
What I’m saying is in your summary you mention other clubs potential signings and saying those will strengthen them
But seem not to take into account we will potentially sign a new GK and RB
The club are experts in these matters and will find solutions for Grealish and other unwanted players
We are a lot closer than people think
We’ve got Rodri to come back Haaaland free from injury plus surely Foden will find his form again
With that in mind
Liverpool slight favourites - lest see how they do under pressure ( from us )
City next
Then Arsenal
But potentially it could be a very close season
We will be fine

Slight tangent, but mad to see Isak hasn’t travelled on Newcastle tour.

I think it's not a bad move to remove him from the group. Ultimately footballers want to play/train. Sitting at home won't exactly make him happy, and he has to know that Liverpool are not going to get him this summer. He either goes to Saudi or stays put where he is.

I don't think Bluemoon or Twitter/X are particularly reflective of the wider fan base. It's noticeable on here and on the other place that the loudest, most repetitively negative users end up dominating the narrative. It's the Fox News'ification of online discourse.

Stones and Ake will manage at least 30 games between them and an on form Dias is as good as anyone. You can’t just bin world class players off just because they have had a poor season - mainly due to the fact EVERYONE has a bad season. Seasons like last season happen to every top team. Because it happened to happen to us, most on here have totally lost their heads. Everyone needs to calm down a bit and remember what we have got - including the best manager ever with new coaching staff giving us new ideas and energy. One crazy half and meaningless defeat in a freak tournament and everyone thinks it will be like last season. It won’t

Look, I’ve been critical of Ruben Dias at times, but let’s be honest—since the day he walked through the door, he’s been absolutely top class. He’s only missed out on the league title once since joining us, and that was last season when our best player was out injured all year.

Ruben, along with the rest of the squad, has given everything. We’re talking about a team that’s done the Double, the Treble, made it to two Champions League finals, three FA Cup finals, and won four league titles on the bounce. That kind of success doesn’t come easy—it’s been unbelievably relentless. Most of those campaigns went right to the wire, and by the end of the season before last, the players looked absolutely spent. It felt like they were clinging on for that historic fourth title in a row, and once that was done, you could see the legs had gone. We needed to regroup, bring in some fresh blood.

But here’s the thing, you don’t just chuck out world class players like Ruben Dias after one tough season. The lad’s been a leader and a top performer since day one. Same goes for Phil Foden. It's madness to even suggest binning them off. They've earned a bit of leeway through the titles they have won. I just don’t get the stick they get sometimes on this forum and on social media platforms by our fanbase.

Off topic but can see why we signed Vitor Reis. Kids 19 and wins 80 percent of his ground duels and has never lost a aerial duel since he's been here or at Palmeiras. 100 percent success rate. Also 90 percent pass accuracy.
Exactly and look at the strikers in that league who are relentless in the press, Igor Jesus who's signed for Forest, Gabriel Barbosa, Pablo Vegetti, John Arias, Yuri Alberto. All strikers who are tough, quick, strong and are constantly pressing the defence. He made that big Plymouth striker look like a he was 5 foot 2 with no pace.

I was just looking up the stats Dias only wins 11 percent of his Aerial duels. That's really poor, if you pair him with Stones you don't have to worry about that , but with Akanji who also is low on Aerial duels at 17 percent. No wonder Peps frustrated with the defence, your two fit centrebacks can't deal with over the top balls or route one.
He has other options and he needs to change it. IF dias and Akanji starts in the first game of the season , i have no belief that anything is going to change.

I think one of the issues with our defence, which is why we are so weak to an over the top ball is some centre backs are not good in the air, I've watched the Palace game , Juve game other highlights from last season.

Dias and Akanji are not good at aerial battles, Gvardiol stats he is better at dealing with over the top balls and aerial challenges, Noticed when the camera pans to Pep he looks so frustrated he starts shouting at the defence. Because its something that Pep can't do anything about.

Genuinely Dias and Akanji for their height lose so many aerial challenges. Juve game in particular they play a ball over the top from their keeper and both centre backs go for the ball and miss it giving Vlahovic a 1v1 against Ederson.

Stats back it up

Akanji only wins 17 percent of his aerial duels
Dias wins 11 percent of his Aerials duels
Stones wins 84 percent of his aerial duels
Ake wins 50 percent of Aerial duels
Gvardiol 77 percent of Aerial duels.

24/25 Prem from fbref:

Gvardiol 56.8 (56.7)
Ake 56.5 (63.5)
Dias 52.1 (57)
Akanji 47.6 (46)

Where have you got 11% and 17% from? Looks complete bollocks to me.

The figures in brackets are the averages in PL for their respective time at City.

Stones average for his time at City is 69.7%

11% seems impossibly low yes ,but even 52 doesnt seem to be good? How are these comparing to Liverpools or Arsenals defenders?

DM-CM, AM, LW, Manager we are better and on strikers we are 10 Liverpool and Arsenal are hardly a 6. Marmoush and Doku are better options than Martinelli and trossard or luis Diaz. Rodri clears gravernberch and rice. AM we have the PL POTY and Cherki, Arsenal don’t really have an AM and Wirtz we will see

Apparently the Brazilians think he could develop into their greatest ever centre half. We'll have to wait and see, it's a big shout.
