It's Quiet the £250m return

the reason why I count Wingers as 6 is cos I believe Marmoush, Foden and Cherki work best as CAM. If we count Foden as a winger I agree, our wingers are about 7 or 8, and I won’t say Haaland is a 10, he has a horrible Semi final and final record. There’s been too many big games He let us down. Giving that penalty to Marmoush was insane bottle job vs Palace. Our midfield would’ve been a 10 if we had prime KDB or if we bought in a chance creating machine like Wirtz. 10 means perfect. You can’t just give it out for shits n gigs. For instance this is the ratings I give our 2018/19 squad (domestic treble winners) aka our greatest team ever and imo, the greatest PL team ever.

Goalkeeper 10 (Ederson- prime)
RB 10 (Walker)
CB 9 (Stones Kompany)
LB 7 (Laporte? Zinchenko?)
CM 10 (Fernandinho, Gundogan, KDB, David Silva)
RW 9 (Mahrez, Bernardo)
CF 9 (Aguero, Gabriel Jesus)
LW 9 (Sterling, Sane)
Manager 10 (Pep)
is cherki not a chance creating machine seeing as he was in the top 3 last season for chance creation

Who is the person running this account?

Always doom and gloom with it. Had to unfollow.

Whilst I do agree they need to make a step up this year, claiming it's make or break for a 21 yr old that has been here 12 months is straight up moronic.

Our wingers performances will be down to tactics imo. Pep needs to adopt new tactics that gives our wingers a chance to actually take their man in with a bit of space and not allow them to stack 11 men behind a ball outside their box and then ask our wingers to break that down.

I don’t know man, I hope so. Wirtz is just more proven, won bundesliga, starts for Germany, and was the heir to KDB in my eyes. Cherki looks brilliant in his cameos, but it’s a HUGE jump from Lyon (a Europa League/conference level team) to one of the biggest club in the world.

in terms of data he in the top 3 for chance creation xg and stuff, yes big step up but at the same time same goes with wirtz new league big expectation with the price tag

How does Pep prevent the opposition stacking 11 men behind the ball?

Doku is the best player in the world at beating a defender. And I bet Cherki isn't far behind.

I don't think tactics come into it. We need a fit Rodri and central defenders that can defend one on one. Doku needs to get better at crossing and shooting too.

The same leap for Wirtz. Liverpool have spent over £0.25 Billion net so far. When we did that, the media set the dogs on us.

I think liverpool are strengthening areas that were already strong - front three & attacking midfield - while neglecting areas where they are weak - defensive midfield & center back. they replaced their defensively weak fullback with equally defensively weak fullback, something you cannot fault them for but is a conscious decision. I really do think they'll suffer next season by blowing their budget on luxuries they did not need.

city need to sort the defence side out and what's happening with the goalkeeper situation and obviously sort the homegrown stuff but other than that we don't look to bad

Yeah 75 chances created last season, 11.9 assists expected a season right now. 1 to 2 assist expected per 90.

19 assists in all comps and should’ve had more if Lyon could finish.

Propaganda is why he’s looked down upon.

For all of the new signings we need a bedding in time. Not a normal pre season it can be said it could take us a few games to get everyone up to speed. I do think there will be more happening in the next 2 weeks. Then it's basically getting the players out on the training pitch and working. I think the younger players will take time to settle. A lot of talent but we will have players from last season with a point to prove that is only a good thing.

It’s not only on the media, do you not see how everyone gangs up on the Man City fan representative on the overlap, it could be Buvey, Big Steve, the younger lad, every episode is carragher, scholes, United fans, Chelsea fans etc all team up just attacking City. The hatred from the media, the fa and fan channels is insane

It could go that way in that they sign too many players this summer and it disrupts their style of last season. We might well have the same problem

Yeah u right, he a 10, he was brilliant that season. Was that blonde hair aguero? He was probably the best no9 in the world for 2018 and 2019

Blonde hair Aguero?! Fucking hell.

No. Aguero was ALWAYS Aguero. The only reason he didn't do Haaland numbers is because his injury record was atrocious. Even in his best seasons he was out for significant chunks. Haaland is phenomenal, but Aguero created chances out of nothing and finished angles that were impossible. I have never seen Haaland just decide to win a game like Aguero would. I love Haaland but he needs service in a way Aguero didn't.

Aguero is actually underrated because he is rated highly in general, but he's better than even that.

By playing quicker football. Pep intentionally lets opposition get set into their defensive shape before we even begin our slowed build up, thats why whenever we win back possession, instead of going forward, you'll see someone dribble in circles, pirouette and then go back.

Attacking quickly, with purpose opens up so much more space for everybody but particularly the wingers. Salah the best winger in the league wouldn't be half the player he is in our setup because the majority of his goals come from him isolating a man before the backline can get set.

How many times last season did we eventually give Doku the ball after half a dozen needless passes allowing them to get 10 men behind the ball and then basically ask him to take on 3 men within about 15 yards of space and create something?

Its all about the tactics, the tactics got us a treble and 4 in a row but they've become stale and we dont have the very specific players for it anymore after losing key cogs like walker and kdb and mahrez. We dont need to go buy the best 1v1 defenders we can find because even they will fuck up too, we need a setup that doesnt put our defenders in situations where they're having to defend 1v1 multiple times per game.

You are spot on about Aguero.

But people are way too selective and revisionist on Haaland though.
