Tino Livramento

Just pay the money they want and stop fucking about. We falling miles behind Liverpool now when if our transfer strategy over the last few season was better we’d still be miles ahead of them
Last few seasons?

Apart from last year the "last few seasons" we've won the treble and four in a row.

Maybe I'm watching a different team.

That was last year. They might be slightly ahead of us at present but "miles"? Not a chance.
Yes I don’t think we are miles behind either, I believe last season would have been totally different if we didn’t lose our Ballon D’Or winning midfielder almost immediately, add to that the minutes lost by a massive percentage of our squad, with KDB, Diaz, Eddie, Ake, Stones, Foden, Grealish, Bobb and Haaland all being out for extended periods. Liverpool had very few injuries, when they did suffer with a few injuries on 22/23, they came 5th.

A good few City fans seem to like to ignore these facts about City last season and for some reason keep ignoring our unbelievable achievements of the last five years.

But we didn’t improve the squad we let good players go and replaced them with inferior players we let players get old with out replacing them we let teams catch up when we should have been kicking on and not giving teams a chance

The poster who mentioned the last few seasons is a wum and is obviously not a city fan.
Just my opinion of course but the behaviour, the post count and their general attitude towards us screams red flags.

The main issue is that Livramento ticks too many boxes for us. Solid defensively, relatively quick (not Walker), young, PL proven, and most importantly English. There are other RBs out there but we have a serious issues with lack of English/homegrown players.
We have no lack of homegrown players.

In fact, one needs to leave for one to arrive, in the homegrown category. And 4 need to leave from the non homegrown category regardless.

Miles behind! I don’t think so.

It’s almost like Liverpool have signed players, therefore we should. (We’ve signed quite a few already)

If we sign Trafford, not sure the English element of this signing is that important. Anyone know the figures?
Signing Trafford makes no difference, as he takes up one of the Club Trained spots, rather than either HG or NHG.

One of Ortega or Ederson leaving does free up a NGH surplus place though.

As a reminder.

The limits are 17+4+4 NHG HG CT.

We are currently 21+4+2. Means we can add Trafford, but are still at limit for HG and 4 over on NHG. For another HG player to come, one needs to leave. Or 5 NHG need to leave, because once you have 4, the 5th counts as NHG and takes up one of the 17 spaces limit.

For the CL, which is what the club builds to. In the PL the limit is 17+8, with no distinction between CT and HG, but the club have never previously set up that way with a surplus of senior players omitted from the CL.

They would but selling Isak isn’t their choosing, and isn’t a PSR thing, the player is trying to force it.
Plenty clubs keep 'unhappy' players who try force moves. If they sell him, it will be their choosing to do so.

this is the best i've seen anyone explain the home grown quota issue thank you

I don’t think so, us getting Livramento isn’t going to change Isaks mind. Isak either goes or doesn’t.
It strengthens Newcastle's position, and resolve. In the same way selling Isak would on this deal to us in reverse.

Clubs avoid losing multiple top players in one window. Big incoming fees make that easier to back.

Another worthwhile distinction between the two competitions to bear in mind.

In both, U21 players don't count towards the 25 man squad. In the PL an u21 player is simply a player who is U21 in the relevant season. In the CL, an U21 player has to have been with the club at least two years, to count as U21/ B-list.

So the likes of Reis and Echeverri are fine in the PL, but in the CL take up a NHG squad space.

But this is nothing new, we had that with Zinchenko, Jesus, Balotelli, etc. None were left out of the CL squad, we just went with fewer players in the NHG category to include them.

Most often when we had 5 or more HG players, we then had 16 or less NHG players. So eventhough we were under the 17 limit, we were at limit overall. If that makes sense.

One thing is certain, as long as the club have neen in the CL, our squads have always been built to meet that criteria. Don't see that changing this year, myself.

My point was mainly aimed at investing into English talent in general. During our treble season we had 4 English players being integral to the team with Grealish, Walker, Stones, and Foden. We suddenly have Foden only now.

I mean, if you are going with the take that Stones and Grealish have ceased to exist based on last season's contributions on the pitch - then surely we don't have Foden either, we have none.
