I said as soon as the deals were completed for the players before the cwc that the window for us would be dead. Trafford in and that's us done i feel, then let's shift some out
I think the club just wants to make sure to have a certain English core over the years. Livramento being absolute first choice makes sense but someone like Vanderson is probably better or even Sango if we want to keep Nunes with the new RB .At this point their being English makes no difference.

If a quality Right Back doesnt arrive I wouldnt make any plans for seeing any pots lifted this upcoming season. Going in with Nunes, Rico, Akanji or Khusanov at right back isnt a recipe for success - as illustrated last season.I said as soon as the deals were completed for the players before the cwc that the window for us would be dead. Last season had very little to do with the right back.If a quality Right Back doesnt arrive I wouldnt make any plans for seeing any pots lifted this upcoming season. Going in with Nunes, Rico, Akanji or Khusanov at right back isnt a recipe for success - as illustrated last season.

Given Walker dropped off a cliff - and he used to bail us out all the time with his pace when teams hit us on the beak - we will agree to disagree on that one.Last season have very little to do with the right back.
Holding midfield was a problem, as was lack of quality depth, but the Right Back position and loss of genuine pace across the back when facing every other team sat in and hitting us on the break was a huge factor.

Agree with most if not all of that.
We gave the ball away too much in dangerous areas last year when we were pressing high, you know we are in the shit when Lewis gets a berth instead of Walker.

I think the reason we coped so well was because we had a fully fit John Stones. It allowed us to have him step into midfield and have a back 3 predominantly of Akanji, Dias & Laporte/Ake.We managed large spells of the treble year without Walker at right back because the team was prepared for it ,if we don't get one the team will be much better able to cope than last season.Just as we did without a left back for years.

Last season, with Walker falling off a cliff and Stones rarely fit, we tried to push Lewis & Nunes into midfield which left gaping holes down our right hand side. It also massively exposed our lack of pace at the back without Walker.
With Ait Nouri at left back and hopefully bringing in a new right back, we might have a bit more of a balance.

I presume we want Livramento but either Newcastle wont sell or they want far more than our valuation.
Fair enough, but the thought of Nunes there for another season hardly fills me with joy!
I don’t think it’s Livramento or bust. We are hanging in there - so we must still have hopes of signing him but if that doesn’t work out I’m sure we will have a plan B.

Are you aware Ait Nouri played as an attacking left wing back for Wolves. He isn’t a defensive minded left back by any means. Not when I’ve seen him anyway. Look forward to watching him do well for City but he deffo isnt an out and out defensive left back. I am just hacked off that we never seem to be able to sort out a defence.
