UEFA Women's Euros | England win final on penalties!

Wow, don’t you think people pay enough subs each month? How much do you pay for yours?

He's making a point that nobody likes womens football despite that being demonstrably untrue.

Another one of those posters who isn't interested in women's football (which is fine) but feels the need to swing by and try and burst everyone else's bubble about it whenever its in the news a bit. The only good thing about that is that I suppose the time they spend on the internet being affronted by these things gives the actual women in their life a nice little break from their condescending nonsense.

Surprised (or not) that Earps had the gall to even comment on the Lionesses winning. She's absolutely odious.
Hobsons choice for her I’d guess, looks (what she appears to be) if she doesn’t, looks two faced if she does.
I do think it’s difficult for the girls because they need to find a way to monetise their success. A 10/12 year career will earn them decent money but won’t set them up for life. In their early 30’s they’re back at the beginning looking for another career. Some I guess will use their looks, others, Jill Scott for example, have had to work hard to make a name for themselves but she’s had to pretty much do anything and everything to get established. I think Earps thought she could develop a bit of a brand but either she misjudged the way to go about it or she was badly advised.

Bit harsh. Got a goal and two assists against Netherlands and the team looked more balanced when she came in at number 10 thanks to her workrate.

Its a shame City didn't make the best use of Park over last season. Playing her out of position or not at all. That number 10 spot could have been hers otherwise.
I said most games. True would have been nice to see Park play. Her work rate could not be faulted and I thought Clinton was a better option to be honest.

A mens average League One/Two player won't be set for life either. There's a ton of ex-Pros and pros coming to the end of their careers based in the north west that I've seen set up coaching classes. 121 sessions, group sessions. These are players that played for the likes of Villa and then moved down to the lower leagues. I spoke with Nathan Delfouneso yesterday as he was doing a 121 session with a kid here in Chorley.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with building a career after they've retired - look at Jill Scott. Start a podcast, become a pundit, or better yet become a coach or manager - that's what the women's game is crying out for, more women coaches and managers.

When has this "set for life" become the norm? Only top top elite players will be set for life in the men's game.

You’re right about Park. Also, the last couple of England games where England midfielders were obviously tired, I thought it was ideal for Park to come on, fresh legs, bit of a dynamo. Especially for Toone, because she did get subbed in the semi, I think but who am I against the knowledge of Wiegman;)

If it makes them feel big or better, then bully for them.

I wasn't happy at all when City let her go because I'd watched her quite a few times, and i knew exactly how good and influential she was as a player ... and to then allow her to join rivals Arsenal was ridiculous when all she wanted was game time at City. .
What was that all about? I noticed she used this opportunity to have a dig. Why did we let such an obviously still good player go?

It was the right thing to let her go. We simply have better performers in her position. Kerolin, Fujino and Fowler are all excellent options in her position and all bring different qualities too.

To be fair, she got more game time than I expected she would at Arsenal but I think a lot of that was down to Mead struggling for form too. I would be genuinely surprised if she ended up being a regular starter for them. Especially now OIivia Smith has arrived.

At her best she's a really good player but she is inconsistent and her decision making isn't always great. She's proven herself as a very effective tournament player though who is able to make an impact off the bench. Let's not forget that even as good as she is, she has never been a regular starter for England under Wiegman either.

Im not disappointed that she left Im just disappointed at how nasty the situation turned. It's a shame because I really like Kelly. She clearly absolutely loves football. She loves playing and she loves watching it. She's a great entertainer, she enjoys the pressure and she brings a lot of personality to the table (which is important in a sport that people sometimes complain feels too "family friendly" and sanitised). Whatever happened at City, she was clearly well liked by her team mates and many of our own players have been supportive of what she's said since leaving City. People might accuse her of playing "the mental health card" but the situation at City clearly did start to take it's toll and she isn't the first player to have similarly struggled at City thanks to Taylor's lack of people management skills.

Spot on.

As a club, we need to improve keeping a big(ger) squad happy.

The way some people are going on it's as if we're letting Rodri leave and replacing him with Kalvin Phillips.

Should Kelly have featured more last season? Possibly yes, but Fowler and Fujino are considered two of the best young players in the world and were our best forward players last season. (It was just unfortunate that they both got injured after Kelly had left!)

It will be interesting to see what happens at Arsenal with all the forward options they have. Not just re Kelly, but Agyemang too.

Kelly undoubtedly should have featured more last season. Absolutely no problem with her not starting games but not subbing her on and leaving her out of squads entirely was clearly personal and poor player management.

Thanks, that’s really clear. Your last sentence is a bit of a concern

I don’t recall anyone saying there was anything ‘wrong’ with building a new career in their 30’s, just that it’s not easy. Jill Scott was the example I quoted. These aren’t however, League 1 or 2 players, they are the elite players in their sport. League winners, cup winners and international champions, albeit in a sport that doesn’t generate huge sums of money, that presents opportunities for them that League 1 and 2 players don’t get. So whilst I understand why Earps is disliked, I still don’t blame her or any of the girls for trying to maximise their earnings during what is a short career.

I’m not saying nobody likes it . Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I agree if it’s your thing who am I to say it’s not enjoyable. I just don’t want it rammed down my throat at every opportunity with it being compared to the Mens game unjustifiably. There is clearly an audience for it so why not have their own channel like the F1 and darts

If you'd like less exposure to women's football then not wilfully logging onto a women's forum would be a good start..
