It's Quiet the £250m return

It’s fine to say you don’t rate him. There’s absolutely no need to call him a “prick” and a “lazy shitebag” though. Don’t know why some feel the need to be so abusive towards our players.

At the ground the two who sit behind us do this nonstop at "that Lewis c unt". It is constant and to the point that when someone else makes a bad pass they blame it on Lewis despite being on the other side of the pitch. It's insane, and what's worse is that there are several others who laugh along and agree how rubbish he is (without the name calling).

Kovacic is a strange one for me. You know when you ask ”what’s for tea?” and it’s something you haven’t had for a bit and don't really fancy, so you just shrug…but then when you eat it you think “this is ok once in a while” that’s Kovacic for me.

He’s actually a reasonable player but not someone I want to see play a lot of games. He isn’t good enough for City long term and I don’t think we will win anything with him in the team but I don’t mind him for tea.
Why keep him then, surely he’s blocking the someone else coming through EDS and then there’s the wages. I get what you’re saying but for me I would get rid say thank you very much and have an EDS lad on the bench who could get valuable game time towards the end of a match. With what we have in midfield do we actually need him

I love this analogy.

I think the question will be what could we get for him. I think he's a fine squad player and is solid depth, but he's 31, had a fairly mediocre season (and yes the team was a mess as a whole) but I'm not sure if we get another injury crunch that I trust him in big games. I think if the right offer came in we would consider it.

If him, Nunes, and Gundo go, we may also have to look at another CM.

But if you never had that for tea again you wouldn’t give it a second thought.

That tells you all you need to know mate. Get him gone.

I think I may have been misunderstood, I am not flapping by any means, I just think it will be difficult to shift ALL the players in an ideal world we want to shift. There will be a good chunk of that list who go of course like macatee, ortega, grealish but I think offers for nunes and stones for example may be more difficult but I'm not panicking mate.
Nunes is a very good player, why anyone thinks he'd be difficult to move on I have no idea.

I think Nunes will have offers, still only 26, not on a ton of money, many clubs would take him simply for his versatility.

He’s not anywhere near our starting line up when everyone is fit but he is much more use right now than a random EDS lad as he has mountains of experience.

On balance I think he was a stop gap signing and the question becomes is that gap still there? He is also a little injury prone.

I wouldn’t mind him leaving but if both Gundo and Kov go I think I’d want one more central midfielder maybe.

All of that makes perfect sense. However achieving all those sales will be a lot harder in reality.

Stones is so injury prone that we may have to cut losses and loan him out for the last year of his contract so he can then go on a free.

Akanji - suggests that Khusonov is thought of as ready? - if he goes and we dont see Khusonov as ready we need a centre half to replace him.

Gundo - hopefully goes to Turkey - nominal fee Id guess

McAtee - first bid refused...hopefully get done about 30m which if we have a first refusal buy back would be great business

Nunes and Grealish will be the hardest to shift. Grealish cause of his wages and who will want Nunes? - one of the promoted teams maybe?

The only other one Id question is Ake - again like Stones he has been amazing but he will spend plenty of time injured...we need players that are available more than not and Ake doesnt really fit into that category (didnt he get injured again in the CWC?)

Presuming Ortega will go once we have got James Trafford through the door?

As Ive been saying all along...a right back is essential
Ake played on with a broken bone in his foot last season did he not? He had surgery and now just needs to get match fit. Can't see any reason why we'd get rid at this point.

Strange take on a player who has league winners medals with us and Real Madrid and no less than 4 CL winners medals (3 with RM, 1 with Chelsea). He's also coming up on 600 top level appearances.

I am told talks have taken place with a number of senior players.

I am told the club are exploring a potential loan for Oscar Bobb. I know a lot may be unhappy to hear that. Still highly rated at the club. However internally the feeling is he will benefit from playing regular football this season. If Oscar Bobb stays expect Echeverri to be loaned.

The names given for senior players the club are open to selling are:

Stones, Akani, Grealish, Gundo, Mcatee, Nunes.

Club want to keep Kova.

Right back being looked at.
Shame if Nunes goes, he’s performed well at RB. Really wish they’d just get rid of Kovacic instead.

Completely off topic, and more related to players we have loved and lost.

I'm just watching the Sly edited highlights of the Carabao final v Spuds in April 21 when the world was just coming out of Covid.

Wow, Mahrez, Sterling, Cancelo, Dinho, Eric.

And that probably wasn't the first team on the pitch but the play was fast, exciting and scintillating, beating opposition, quick throw ins, shoot on sight, Sterling and Mahrez - how I miss Riyad.

Anyway I'm missing footy and watching this has reminded me of what superb teams we've had in the last decade. And sort of slightly depresses me because of what happened last season...

I'm not an entitled JCL BTW, been around since 69, but the last 15 years, and particularly this last decade has spoiled me!!

I hope we can regain some of that fast, edge of the seat excitement and entertaining footy this coming season.

Come on mate, he had nothing to do with those three for Real Madrid, he didn’t get a kick in those campaigns.

Even at Chelsea, he didn’t play the final. By the end of his time at Chelsea, he’d lost his place to Jorginho. If he wasn’t good enough for Madrid or Chelsea, he was never good enough for us.

I honestly think this could be an epic season and can see a 4 way shootout with us, the dips, Chelsea and Arsenal all going for it. Obviously we break them all in the run in.

I remember FFS Mahrez, and Raheem who couldn't hit a barn door, and Cancelo's attitude.
We seem to only truly appreciate those who are no more.
Time to appreciate a new generation, me thinks.

I am really missing the games.
I cannot wait for the season either.
Yes, we have been spoiled.
YES - I am telling you that Cherki, Marmoush, Foden, Haaland, Doku and Savinho are going to KILL IT!
