Middle East Conflict | Netanyahu orders strikes on Gaza (p1161)

I've not seen the full argument by "top lawyers" that recognising a Palestinian state would be illegal. (So are war crimes and genocide.)

But it's reported that it warns that if this was to go ahead, Britain's Government would be unable to recognise millions of Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza as "refugees" because the recognition of a state would mean they were in their own territory.

Nothing then about Israel throwing the UN refugee organisation out of Gaza...

Anything about Israel's illegal occupation?

Yep the israel lobby is doing its thing - the "top lawyers" story is front page of the times. One of the ex idf prisoners has been doing the rounds accusing the decision of being 'morale failure', they wheeled the traitor and Israeli asset priti patel and nigel farage has been platformed on lbc again this morning spouting his usual bullshit

The september deadline gives the israel lobby time to sway the opinion of gullible morons and wrestle back control of the narrative

You reckon it will work in getting control of the narrative though? The lobby vs the open slaughter of men, women and children?

UK opinion shows around 45% support Palestinian statehood - two thirds of Labour/Lib Dem/Greens - with 41% unsure overall. Basically we are divided between it’s a good idea or not sure if it is.

Only Reform voters are a majority against because they seem to love a good slaughter.

you will have noticed that in certain sections of the media when the volume rises on the cases of Israeli excesses/genocide the Israeli PR machine launches into action and generates a story of how terrible the conditions in which they were kept. How they were kept in tunnels and the lack of medical care. No mention of the bombing overhead and the destruction of hospitals or the death of doctors. In essence the usual distraction techniques which certain media outlets are happy to ply along with

I agree there is a concerted effort to push a narrative, but my point was on its effectiveness given the country is split between supporting a Palestinian state and being unsure if it is a good idea. Outright opposition appears to be limited. At best the narrative being pushed is sowing doubts as to the wisdom behind pushing for a Palestinian state.

It started in the first week after 7 October. 'Doctors are treating hostages. They must be Hamas.'

Maybe if we'd done it 10 years ago when Parliament voted to do it, 7th October might have been avoided.

I really do not know what to think about the Palestinian state issue. Whilst there is justification for it's existence I can no longer see how it could be a viable entity. The destruction of the infrastructure , housing etc would require a level of investment comparable to that undertaken by The Marshall Plan post WW2. That is not going to happen unless the Arab states put the funds up. However unless Hamas are somehow forced out they will not fund it

humanitarian groups demand the full opening of crossings for life-saving aid.

The food is now being air dropped and while that is brilliant, it’s survival of the fittest running to the dropped parcel, who gets there first.
It is so degrading for Palestinians the old, the sick and children have no chance of getting to a food parcel the crossing should be fully opened.

Trump and Netanyahu will fund the destruction and rebuild of Gaza with Palestinians on 14% of the land, the intention is to develop the strip as a holiday destination it’s already written.
The remaining Palestinians will be allowed to leave but they can’t go home.

I’ll be astonished if the Gaza Strip becomes a Palestinian state it will be annexed by Israel.

Agreed. Israel have systematically destroyed everything you need to be a state.
Maybe the best bet is let the US and Israel build their Las Vegas, then it 50 years when the yanks are no longer financially able to support Israel the Palestinians from Lebanon, Jordan, the West Bank invade having not had to spend any money.

Hmm, doubt they would invade a remorseless, merciless state that possesses Nuclear weapons.

We are still not able to validate what is happening in Gaza, no filming as the plane flies over and drops the food. No media or unauthorised entry. It’s just one huge prison full of defenceless Palestinians

Here's an article from zoe strimpel (who is the monster in the first video) from April last year titled "The Israel Defence Forces are the most moral soldiers in the world"...:

Nonsensical propaganda for the morons that get their news from the telegraph

It makes me feel sick one thousand Israeli families ready to March into Gaza, to replace one thousand Palestinian families who were forcibly herded like sheep and driven out of their land, if they survive the bombing and bulldozers they can never go home. Whole families wiped out and the world lets it happen.
It’s been going on for as long as I can remember the PLO and Yasser Arafat winning the Nobel peace prize. It’s a one sided war Israel with tanks and weapons, and the Gaza population have no weapons.

Israel has its propaganda machine going post after post regurgitation of October “Bby in the microwave” as justification for what they have done in Gaza.

We should be breaking the blockade and sending a peace keeping force into Gaza.

Is it still working? Would even the Telegraph now print an article claiming the IDF is the most moral army in the world?
