I don't need to know what Arne Slot thinks. In what way was it far weaker?
Why are the so called top clubs buying players from clubs that played, in your view, in a far weaker league, going to make them stronger this season?
So it didn't surprise you, city's form? you foresaw all the injuries?
You have no idea what Arne Slot thinks. So what you believe is only what you are telling yourself. I don't claim to know what he thinks either. I am not clairvoyant or telepathic.
Your post comes across as rather emotional rather than filled with reasoning.
From my perspective.
Competitive is subjective.I don't need to know what Arne Slot thinks.
He said it himself "this is a very competitive league"
He doesn't know the meaning of competitive if he thinks last season was tough. If he was competing against Pep over the past five season do you honestly think Slot could have accumulated 98 - 100 points under the kind of pressure Klopp had to face?
And if you knew me, you would know emotions don't come into it as far as I'm concerned.
I leave that quality to those fine folks on Merseyside.
Basically your two main rivals us and Arse were 20 and 15 points down on the 23/24 season, and 18 and 10 down on the 22/23 season. Maybe not weaker ,but a darn sight more comfortable for you. Slot, had a very comfortable time of it and still served 2 touchline bans for inappropriate behaviour. Pep destroyed Klipperty, I can see Slot getting more and more agitated. Not retaining the title after spending 300 million would have to go down as the worst title defence in the history of football. In what way was it far weaker?

Last season on the whole the league was very competitive. Hence there was no dominant force collecting 90+ points.
Arne Slot was talking about the fact that teams play from start to finish and that a lot of games the scores are fine margins. W don't win by 3,4 or 5 goals. I remember him talking about that. It was also something about us not making games more comfortable - taking out chances. (iirc) The quality of player in the lower table sides is still high quality.
To take just a quote, is very much, what the clickbait media / gutter press, that the city fanbase in general despise, do.
it is quite revisionist that you mention Pep and Klopp as if pressure never affects them. They have lost their shit on many occasions and not just when managing in England.
I saw many on here and other places stating the if slot wins the league it shows what a shite manager klopp was! that we'd have won more without him.
Now slot is shite?

I think gameweek 3 is Arsenal vs Liverpool at Anfield. Will be an interesting game as both sides will still be integrating players (new signings) into their starting XI.
From what I've heard from Arsenal sources on social media the signing of Gyokeres is causing a rethink in tactics. He has struggled in training with playing between the lines (like how Havertz plays) but apparently has been absolutely lethal when Arsenal have been getting the ball wide and then into the box rapidly.
Obviously all hearsay as it's social media sources but it seems we will be forced to play a bit more directly than last season.
We are never going to agree on this point.Competitive is subjective.

The league wasn't very competitive in terms of title chasing: City had many injuries, including a very bad to Rodri, City's equivalent of VVD or Salah in terms of importance. Arsenal had more injuries than usual: Saka, Gabriel, Havertz...
Many think that if Rodri comes back and plays regularly, City are good enough to reach 88+ pts again.
I fully recognize the injury situation with city. I've posted previously that you could do with a top quality CD who is ready to play in the first team. Ease the others back in gently. Was competitive but you had no one up your arse in the money time! Arsenal dropped of and if anyone expect us to not have down season they are deluded coming of the back of what we have done under pep last 8 years! Salah was your joker as always his stats and consistency are unbelievable! Think Wirts will get the numbers salah will or will it be a season that it doesn’t!? Your in a transitional season as well as is us..
No. No it wasn't. We were exhausted and without Rodders for most of it, and a lot of players were nearing the end of their time here. Arse and a few others fucked up so you basically had no competition. You had the new manager bounce, and thanks to David Coote you had the protection of the officials. Slot had Bingo's squad and Salad was having another extraordinary season in front of goal. All the cards fell for the dippers last season, let's not kid ourselves otherwise.Last season on the whole the league was very competitive.

Will Rodri reach the same level as before? I think so.
Some say you had a season off. like it was voluntary and planned. City were going well until November. Injuries, Age and Fatigue all came together. Some of the signings didn't work out in recent years, if they had, you'd have coped better. I think Nunes is a fabulous player and Kalvin Phillips looked like a no brainer. The former will be much better in a more settled side and not playing at full back!
Arsenal refused to sign anyone in the winter window as a striker but still reached the semis of the champions league. What are Arsenal though? they spent 105m on Declan Rice and it looked like they meant business but then they have quickly become a club that appears to think , not losing, is winning.
I agree there wasn't a sustained challenge. A team still needs to have a good focus to go an win the league because one can become complacent and get dragged back into the melee.
I am not delusional. On the whole the title 'race' wasn't exciting for the neutral. When city won it with 100 points was there a race? did you care? i bet not one iota!
Last season is done. It is over. No one knows what will happen this season. We could all be left pissing into the wind and Chelsea run away with it!
Wish you both the best of fortune.

No, it wasn't a race that year. Yes we didn't care winning it with 4 or 5 games to play. And do you know why? Because we stayed focused and achieved. We achieved something that no other team in the history of the 20 team competition had. We scored 100points. Lost only 14 points all season. You focused on losing 14 points over your last 4 or 5 matches. Spot the difference.I fully recognize the injury situation with city. This cannot be expressed strongly enough just how wrong he was to say that.Klopp commenting on the CAS verdict as "Bad for football" shown me what an absolute **** he was, no amount of dumbing what he is down will ever change that.
He can genuinely, really fuck off and I can't wait for Pep to break Slot in the same way.
What i saw of Nunes at wolves. I was a huge admirer. He would just bully opposition off the ball and turn defence into attack. I did hope that we would sign him. That's very reasonable. Nunes isn't a fabulous player, but he isn't bad either. Nobody knows about Rodri. But I think City will be better than expected.
I personally don't care about the number of points we collect during a title winning season. Winning the league is all that matters. No, it wasn't a race that year.
