Yeah, so you'll be on the other side of Vittorio Emmanuel, the main street, from Ballaro market, but it's all walkable and super charming. Ballaro is pretty cool, lots of delicious fried seafood, and make sure to take some sun-dried tomatoes back home.Cheers for the tips...decided to pull the trigger with this one & also managed to get one of the remaining match tix - although they seemed to open up another section in C32 of the stadium.
We're staying in the old town area near the lively La Vucciria district. Did you manage to visit the Ballaro market near the station & if its worth it or simply a tourist trap? Also thinking of squeezing in a day trip to either Monreale or Cefalu - any preferences? I think another poster also recommended visiting Scopello.
Reading up on the island, think the various available Sicilian street food will be ideal to soak up the beer for the trip.
One of my favorite things we did was rent a boat and a driver and go snorkeling/boozing in the Tyrrhenian Sea. Little boats selling Aperol and beer, it was fantastic and so so beautiful
Cefalu is really pretty and has a beautiful Norman castle in the middle, and one of the best beaches, but it is touristy and gets quite crowded. I would recommend you check out Trapani and see if it interests you. Its close to Marsala and for whatever reason doenst get a lot of intl tourists.
Now I'm coming from Texas, and I'll say that Sicily in general, but Palermo specifically, in July was one of the hottest places I've experienced, so just be sure to follow the Sicilians in the shade.
