1 | James Trafford - 2025/26

I reckon Ederson will start the first games and Trafford will be given cup and a few “lesser” PL games.

They all go well and he’ll get more and more games as Ederson’s contract runs out.

I'm inclined to agree that's what's likely to happen, but I really wouldn't be surprised if Ederson leaves in the current window.

Not that is particularly matteres but there is not a chance Trafford is 6ft 5. 6ft 3 maybe pushing 6ft 4 if we are being generous. Looked smaller than O'reilly when he was next to him.

Not a chance is he 6'5 lol.

Anyways, he didn't look to out of place today.

Definitely alot of building out the back, he will get better at it with time.

Don't think he's saved anything so far. Hasn't done anything to impress with his distribution either.

I actually thought his distribution was pretty decent for his first game bar the obvious fuck up in the first 2 mins. After that it was better but I still thought we looked more fluent second half when Ederson was in. I don’t think they closed us down as hard though.

I don’t think he will first choice this season though.

Ederson looks more composed with his distribution, but he’s also still prone to the kind of recklessness that would be punished if done domestically. Trafford will get his chance but it might not be at Molineux.

I thought it was iffy and uncomfortable. Said this in the match thread at halftime, it wasnt the accuracy of his passing, that was fine, It was the decision making.

Some of the passes he made were not good decisions and put us in trouble, you'd expect premier league opposition to capitalise on them at least once. Ederson might have a fuck up in him with his passing but he rarely makes those poor decisions, thats what makes him so unique.

Not having a go though. The lads been here a week after 2 years away. It is completely understandable he doesn't instantly know what the best option is, no issues with his debut. Not long before the Carabao cup starts and he'll have a chance to show us what hes about.

I'm still unsure why we signed him. Unless Ortega leaves, he's not going to be playing at all. I know he's one for the future, but surely his playing and getting experience is more important right now?

Yeah agree. Ortega was ropey last season so not a big risk but Ederson is still no 1 all season for me with Trafford playing in the cups and the odd game. It is possible he may not be number one after Ederson goes either as we may buy someone.

i think its fairly clear Ortega will go. I like him, he's been a great number 2 for us and would have had no problem with him remaining that but its the obvious decision when the opportunity crops up to replace him with a young club trained academy player which gives us some wiggle room within the squad and has the potential to become number 1, something Ortega was never going to be.

This opportunity was presented to us now, If we didnt take it, he was going to Newcastle to be their number 1 instead and the chance to bring him here would be lost forever.

You may well be right. Clearly it's the hope, but I don't think its a cast iron guarantee he'll be our number 1 eventually but the beauty of his signing as backup first is we get to see him first hand and he gets the opportunity to show it before we fully commit.
