The back pas rule stopped other teams winning the league. Liverpool can't win the league because the rules have changed.
Hasn't crossed any persons mind that the rules are the same for everyone? Was every other team inept? These rules are made just for Liverpool! so what about when other teams won trophies and league titles?

We didn't win the bloody league title because ultimately we weren't good enough! Conceded too many, missed too many chances, erratic goalkeeping/defending, drew too many games and quite often just had to accept someone else was better.
And the slip.
Don't ever forget the slip

At least keepers can’t hold onto the ball forever to slow us down now with the 8 second rule, let’s he how much it’s enforced and how.

Mrs is a red scouse and got LFC TV on for their double header with Athletico - Neil Mellor talking about Ekitike (sp) saying how he’s such a good all round player able to score goals and assists, unlike Haaland who just scores goals!

And the slip.

One singular moment does not lose a league season.
It may well appear that way but when one analyzes an entire season one will be better educated on the matter.

We conceded far too many goals, as well as losing at home to Southampton and away to Hull city. We drew with WBA, Aston Villa and had a goal by Raheem Sterling flagged offside despite being onside by about 3 yards against CIty. I think that would have put us 0-2 and we go on to lose the game 2-1. We then lost our next game also 2-1 against Chelsea away.

We went into the final 3 games needing 7 points from 9 but with a defence that had conceded i think 46 goals in 35 games. We weren't set up nor capable of playing for a draw. We played into Mourinhos hands and the whole atmosphere was far too emotional. Everyone was frustrated and we lose the game.

Against Palace it was probably for 66-70 minutes one of the most attacking performances from a Liverpool side i have ever witnessed. We had great chance after great chance and if we had been 9 goals ahead it would not have been unfair but the ball would not go in after we scored the 3rd. I said to my missus we are not gonna win this game. One could just see it unfolding. We had given everything and we're dead on our feet.

The truth of the matter is that Title winning teams don't concede 50 goals and drop points against several of the bottom end 'fodder' whilst also losing against their title rivals. Chelsea x2, City x1 and Arsenal x1.

Gerrard and Suarez were the main reasons we were in a title race. Gerrard got double figures for both goals and assists. It is unfortunate that what he said came back to bite him but life can be cruel. I get why people and especially supporters of other clubs say it but Gerrard was not the reason we didn't capture the league title.

We just weren't good enough over the season.

It was 0-0 at the time. I remember that so, so well because in almost 60 years of watching City, that remains the ONLY wrong decision I can remember going in our favour against Liverpool. Unless you can show me otherwise. You are so hard done by I think that should be easy. Over fifty years to go at, must be something somewhere. Maybe a throw in from five yards too far forward.

I'll readily agree City are in transition. I can't say that City's replacement players will be successful but I would expect the core group Ederson, Dias, Haaland etc to be very effective, and if Rodri and Stones recover, as they might be expected to, then we will be in contention.

IMO Liverpool's forward line and central defence appears weaker than last season. I have seen City's star players collapse with age: Kompany, Aguero, KDB, Toure, Walker. It will happen soon to VVD and Salah. Slot must know this, yet VVD and Salah were given extended contracts. I would say that is a mistake but we will see.
Eventually father time will catch up with everyone. No debating that.
We have got a lot of pace around the team and especially now in defence and in the forward line. Salah has actually developed as a player and for the last 2 or 3 seasons been a lot less reliant on his pace as he is not as quick as he was.
The leadership and organizational skills of VVD are what stand out even more since the injury in 2020-21. Konate , Frimpong and Kerkez give us much needed pace at the back that we didn't have with TAA (ever) and Robertson as of late. I could be wrong but i still think Robertson will start the season as first choice.

Personally think the spine of city is a worry. Fantastic world class players if they are all fit. All bar Ederson (imo) have question marks over them in regards to previous injuries.

Haaland has had a tendency, throughout his career so far, to miss periods of the season. It was a big loss to sell Alvarez but one would have to be a lunatic to turn down that money considering what was paid for him. Haaland scores a bucket load of goals still mind you!

Rodri I am expecting with time to come back to his best.

Now i keep getting told by certain people here that you don't need another CB. The injury record in the last 2 years of City CBs is atrocious. There is no doubting the quality of them but they don't get out onto the pitch enough. I am informed about younger players that you have signed but it is massively unfair to put all the pressure on those lads in the case that they don't stay fit.

It is like last season for us

Quansah - VVD = okay
Konate - Quansah = risky
Quansah - Gomez = ARGH!

VVD is a talker and the other two more experienced CBs are do'er's.

We need another CB and IF we get Guehi then numbers wise it looks much rosier.

City have the numbers on paper but the last 2 years leave question marks over a lot of them. Who is out there to buy though? The two at Arsenal are very good but they pick up niggles here and there and miss important games.

I have full confidence in Joe Gomez quality but will he stay fit? His record says NO! so that is a bloody worry.

Sorry for the long post. Trying to show that it is not some anti-city viewpoint but rather just from a general footballing perspective. If i have repeated myself I apologise for that also.

Mate. You seem well grounded and write a lot of sense. I for one welcome your posts.

You know it’ll be enforced for a few weeks and then they’ll forget about it.

Thank you. I genuinely appreciate the kind words.
How many times have we said that only for the poster to turn out to be a typical (Enter team name here) fan that bangs on about cheating, oil money etc.
IF Goldilocks had pissed allover the beds and shitted in the porridge and then sold their chairs on Facebook. It wouldn't have been smart nor her right to do so.
It is not mine either. I'll have the odd laugh and chat about football though!

Liverpool looks very good to me. I don't like that Wirtz reminds me of prime Debryune :(

The way he moved, ping passes, quick decision and hard sprints to get in food positions are all Debryune-esque. Slightly weeker pass and slightly better dribbler... Seeing him znd Slobozai in red fives me pain. My 2 favorite mids Ciry didn't get.

They ard going ro be a very good team barring injuries. I cant aay the same for Arsenal. They dont look as good to me.

But early days. I have been most impressed by Liverpool, Chelsea and ( i feel dirty saying it) United. :(

Hopefully we come out firing.
