Pep Ljinders appointed as assistant coach | James French joins as set-piece coach (p15)

Interesting article.
Yes, I’m sure we will see a tactical change. The question is just how much.
The article rather forgets that in times past City, under Guardiola, had more line breaking dribbles than recently because we had David Silva, prime Sterling, Sane etc.

Promoting counter attacking goals. Finally.

We'll need teams to come out of their own box and not throw themselves to the ground with a 'head injury' when we win possession back for us to be able to counterattack.

Interesting to see that with this new Pep he's being given credit for everything as if Pep G has never tried new things or completely changed rhe way we've played in the past. Looks like the Liverpool PR machine has moved with him, never seen an assistant manager being talked about or given so much credit since Peter Taylor.

It is £150 mill (give or take) is it not? Have you not added Trafford maybe?
Na I have. 27 Trafford, 46m Reijnders, 31m Ait-Nouri, 30m Cherki, 0 Betinelli. Guardian and BBC figures. £134 for 5 players.

Nypan is €15m (even if he isn't one for this season), for some reason Transfermarkt have us as paying €2.4m for Bettinelli as well although I thought he was free myself.

Not seen anyone report a fee for Bettinelli. Considered Nypan, but then it is 6 players rather than the 5 stated, so it is still being a bit bendy with the truth for the sake of a headline, which was the point I was making.

If we have to shoehorn figures in and have this discussion, to make the headline fit, then my point stands imho

Yeah, was having Silva to play the slide rule passes and those 2 particularly Sane able to get on to them. Would expect Cherki to be able to play those passes. One thing that was quite noticeable from Doku in the cwc was he was looking to spin in behind more.

Cherki could be a game changer. He has talent and imagination and just needs PL experience. I am very hopeful about his effect on the team. Just give him a bit of time.
