Jack Grealish | Set to join Everton on season-long loan

Contracts are a two way thing.

If he wants and chooses to stay, then he stays on the contract the club offered him, and he signed. Whether the contract is reflective of his ability and output is open to debate, but it's silly to suggest he should offer to lower his wages.

I do agree that his wages may well be a hindrance to him getting a move away but that's something for him and his agent to consider.
All I’m saying is, if he truly cared about his career, then he’d leave. If he wants to stay, it’s solely because of his wages, because there is no way gets back in the team ahead of Marmoush, Doku or Savinho.

Everton can find £43m for Tyler Dibling, they could well have found it for Jack if they were interested. So don't now see much in that old claim. Unless they are hedging their bets on a loan, which most clubs might chance.
They’re similar players, so I don’t doubt that move is dead. Jack’s wage demands will have been the stumbling block, rather than the fee.

Why buy a 29 year old who has shown obvious decline and very little output when you can buy a player with resale value and 10-15 years ahead of them, on a fraction of the money.

Spurs now have Madison out with a long term injury and Son leaving creatively they are lacking a player. Them for a loan with obligation to buy might be a deal that could come in.
I like Jacko and I genuinely want whats best for the lad. But I'd rather him rot at our club than do any business with that horrible ****!

Maybe he likes his current working environment and believes he can turn things around? Maybe he's been given encouragement from management that there will still be opportunities for him? Or look at it a different way, if you were working somewhere and getting paid a shit-ton of money, would you leave to get 50% pay somewhere else?

Doku and particularly Savinho still have a lot to prove. Whilst Grealish offered little in 2024/25, I don't think it's clear cut that there's "no way" he would get ahead of Savinho.

Shame for Madison, nobody deserves an ACL if it is indeed that (not seen what happened) but that leaves spurs with a big problem so why would we be willing to help them solve it for very little cost for them and very little benefit for us?

Were they to become interested in Grealish now, we know they have a hole to fill, so we use that to our advantage and get him out of the club permanently.
They can have Jack - for 150m

somehow i think Grealish could flourish @ Spurs + they are in need of a left winger with Son going, Kudus and Johnson for right wing
Well they got odobert and Tel both very talented. Just paid 45M for Tel. Think they will look for a real 10 instead.

That’s a false equivalency because I don’t work as a professional footballer, following my passion. I work in software for the highest bidder because working is a means to an end.

For Jack, he’s already wealthy enough so that if he were to cut his wages to revive his career, it wouldn’t affect him.

I respect what you’re saying about him getting back in the side, but I don’t see it, he’s not of the level for me.

That's fair enough blue, and regarding Jack being of the level to get back in the side, you may be right. Not being invited to the CWC tells a story.

I hope to be proven wrong but I'm not convinced Savinho is of the level required either, but at least he has age on his side.

I’m also not sure on Savinho, but if he can capture some of what he was doing in Spain he might be the one, he’s only 21.

I think we’ll see an improvement out of him and Doku this season with a more open style of play. They’re both direct players who have had to play pressing teams so high there’s no space in behind.

The obsession people have with Grealish is so strange. Nobody has ever gotten away with the amount of stuff he’s done. Sterling and Jesus were given the coldest of shoulders despite winning more and contribution way more, g/a included. “Maybe he should stay” what’s with you lot ? He’s on 300k and hasn’t turned up since 2023. He earns more than Foden and Rodri. The discourse around him has been the same boring song since we signed him. “He needs an overlapping fullback, he needs to play in midfield, he needs have he’s clothes pressed before playing” it’s hilarious. Pep gave him numerous chances even after the treble and he squandered all of them.

He’s a lovely lad fair enough but it would be so nice to not always talk about Grealish for once.

I thought he was going to be much more than what he turned out to be. I was wrong. Move him on. Replace him. Keep the machine going.

I think people get far too attached to people that kick a ball around for a living. Same goes for others. They gave us the best of memories. Just let them go before things turn sour like Walker and they ruin their own legacy.

Then you don't like Jack. And your love for our club is suspect if you'd rather punish them than help us :p
Not really Dax. I just wouldn't EVER deal with that utter **** after the way he's treated us in the past. Absolutely nothing to do with not loving us or Jack. I'd of thought a true blue would kinda know where I was coming from(in a don't take things so seriously way) ;-)

Business is business, if they are prepared to pay what we want a deal will be done.

I know exactly where you're coming from. I don't like Tottenham to start with and he makes it worse.

Last season we saw the same thing. He got left out of the Euros, we expected that to be the monumental kick up the arse many suggested he needed.

Along with Haaland, was pretty much the only senior player to have a full pre-season we all expected him to smash pre-season and be the main guy we lean on early season whilst the rest play catch up, in the end he was out shone in pre-season by Bobb and found himself further down the pecking order before Bobbs injury.

No reason to expect this season we will see a new Grealish. He's had more than his fair share of chances and hasnt taken them, regardless of how much of a sound guy he is, it's time to move on from him.
Good points all.

Perhaps the rumors of negative extracurricular are real and his issues need correction before his onfield activities can blossom once more?

While I wish this were true, I don’t believe he has a chance of playing much next season.

I don’t think he’s showed enough professionalism and hunger to be the best since the treble…..I don’t blame him as it was an immense amount of success and it takes a truly driven individual (a great/legend) to keep fighting after that kind of success, especially coming from his background of limited / zero success before City.

Comparing the wages of footballers to most people is a pointless comparison. I couldn’t afford to live even shopping excessively at farm foods on 50% less whereas the likes of Jack and most prem footballers would still be considered rich beyond most people’s dreams on 50% less.

That’s not to say I blame him if he wants it all, he has a contract etc…..however it cannot be denied that if he chooses to stay then it shows he does value that extra money over his career/chance to represent his county/ play a part in another successful team because he would need a change in his work ethic, his philosophy on life - ie he enjoys a party still (again don’t blame him) but to get back in regular I think he’d have to go a similar way to Ronaldo and be devoted to his profession which isn’t happening.

I’d sell jack for a low ball number if we could even get that as his wages off the books would be worth it. And a talent like that, I’d prefer to see at Everton or Napoli etc….doing well and still enjoying his parties etc…

Good luck to him but I think he’s had his time for us and Pep is right to freeze him out, he’s not looked anywhere near what we need since the parties after the treble.

He started 15 games last season and we only lost one of them while he was on the pitch (went off at 1-0 up against Madrid).

If only he could stay fit.
