Not at all. My issue is with someone reading what Romano said and taking that as some big story. There are several articles detailing how the academy pay structure is at Liverpool and about the willingness to pay the going rate for certain players outside of that wage cap.
Your initial post was about Chelsea did all they could and Liverpool offered the players family incentives and they broke their wage structure!

The player from city it is reported he is 14 but it is a 6 year deal.

I didn't say it was a big story. It was just some additional context because you said you think the reason he joined Liverpool was pathway related. I gave you a report from someone most people consider fairly reliable when it comes to transfers suggesting it could be money related too. People can take it or leave it but we can't pretend it wasn't reported.

Fair enough on the City kid. Academies poach players from each other all the time for all kinds of reasons. It's just not as common when it concerns one the star players in a top academy who is on the cusp of signing his first pro deal.

They really are a special bunch, the cultists. Apparently, controlling the ball with one foot while balancing yourself with the other foot is "truly next level". And it's also "perfectionist".

They are utterly insane.

They will make anything up about Liverpool just to post something on X and get clicks and views from other Liverpool fans.

Hahahaha fuck me, that's deluded. Every single one footed player in the world operates like that.

Is it a parody?

Nothing should ever surprise where these absolute bellend cunts are involved.
Maybe it went over my head; maybe it's just some of that legendary scouse sense of humour. La.

Think of it this way. IF Chelsea did all they could to keep him, then financially they would have offered the same or better deal, because IF there is a financial motivation from the players side, then they are going to negotiate for a more lucrative package. I believe that Todd Boehly is richer than FSG as a whole.

What could it be that Chelsea couldn't guarantee? First team minutes? How many wide players were at thee club at that time? all wanting first team minutes. Imagine the dressing room if one of the established professionals can't even get a game in the cups because of a 16 year old.

It is more plausible that Chelsea offered more money to negate the inability to guarantee some game time and that Liverpool said we'll make you our highest earning academy player AND guarantee you some minutes. He then started the F A cup game against Accrington Stanley.

edit. @Vialli98 I am a bit tired and cranky. apologies.

Be fair!!! oh won't you please be fair!!
Some, mean a lot, of these people who make these kind of things and spout absolute bollocks, have never kicked a football.

Not necessarily, but yes maybe. You have to understand me here. You could be right that Chelsea maybe offered more money but he chose Liverpool because of the pathway on offer. But it's also possible Liverpool offered financial incentives that even Chelsea did not want to entertain. Or it could be neither and Liverpool just offered a better pathway.

He was 15 years old when Chelsea were trying to convince him to stay. You think Madueke, Sancho and Mudryk being in the squad at the time has any relevance to whether he stays or leaves? Tyrique George was getting minutes over Sancho and Madueke at times last season.

It's not more plausible that Chelsea offered more money. I know you as a Liverpool fan would like to believe that, but Chelsea have worked hard to drastically reduce the wage bill (I believe it is quite a bit lower than even Liverpool right now), so I would say Chelsea probably would not have wanted to be held hostage like that, IF it is true that financial incentives were made. There were reports of endless meetings between Rio's family and Chelsea in the months leading up to his departure. The details of those meetings were never made public.

Anyway, we can agree to disagree. You have the kid at your club now. He's going to be a superstar, and I wish him well. I hope he fulfils his potential and prospers into a star. We lost Musiala at similar age and he's gone to be a star.

I wonder what the response would have been had they witnessed David Silva and Riyad Mahrez for season after season..

Imagine.. it would have been completely off the scale; and of course, it would truly be a Spinal Tap 'this one goes to 11' moment..!

Can hyperbole be 'hyperboled'..?! I wouldn't back against The Anfield Road Formation Brick Throwers finding a way to do so!

Boy avoids tackle by own player, then whilst running mazely straight, controls ball with feet one foot, with multiple no opposition players trying to tackle, till opening body and scoring a goal in a fixture no one is arsed about that means he’ll be called up for England this season
